Run it along with spybot (also free)

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

and you'll find even more spyware.

The above 2 programs while very good do not get rid of spyware such as DSO exploit and coolwebsearch.

From http://www.pchell.com/support/dsoexploit.shtml :
If you use Spybot Search and Destroy or another spyware removal tool, it may find an item called DSO Exploit. This exploit is a bug in Internet Explorer that under certain circumstances would allow untrusted software to run on the computer. In other words, its a hole in Internet Explorer that hackers could use to gain access to your system.

However, if you are running the latest version of Internet Explorer and have all your Windows Updates installed, the bug has been patched and is not a threat to your computer system. Even though Spybot may still show it as a threat.
Also, do a search for "CWShredder.exe" to get rid of CoolWebSearch.

Hmmm I think krystal is confused. I run Ad-Aware 6.0 too, and it has never found any viruses. As far as I know it doesn't even look for viruses, thats whit I use NAV for.

Now Ad-Aware does find and get rid of a LOT of spyware, but never any viruses!

Thanks rayfinkel

I was using Ad-Aware 6.0 as well, and would periodically check for updates but they never seem to have any. When I ran the program it would sometimes only find one that it never seem to be able to get rid of. I updated to the SE Personal edition and when I ran it, it found 33 critical objects that the 6.0 didn't. I would suggest that others using the early versions might want to consider downloading the new version.

Good upgrade

Just did the upgrade and ran the new Ad-Aware program and it found another 33 bugs. I also use Spybot, Spysweeper and NAV along with the older Ad-Aware 6.

This upgrade is good and worth getting. You have to keep updated on these various bug detectors as those that want to drop bugs on your PC are always trying to find ways around them.

Spybot

You can safely ignore DSO Exploit things in Spybot 1.3, it's a bug in the program.
