Accidentally Texted Wrong Phone Number - Can I be Prosecuted?

Alright, so my paranoia is going off the rails here. I'm a 30 year old with a wife and children and stable paying job.

I accidentally texted "Hey, I used your services in the past and enjoyed myself. Do you have anyone that offers anal?" to the wrong phone number. I meant to write to an escort agency. I'm not using a burner phone.

What happens if that phone number belongs to a police officer or someone that reports my number to the police?

I feel like I'm living with a gun to the back of my head and someone could pull the trigger any time.

And this is why you don't discuss specific services over text message....AND why you use a fucking burner phone.

Relax Matthew Sky (I hope that's not your real name); you don't know even know whether the number you texted is a cellphone or a landline. And if you haven't received a response, most likely whomever got your message dismissed it as spam or a crank call.

Smarten up and be more careful!

I’d be worried if your wife has access to your phone bill electronically and can see numbers you’ve texted or called.

Check out what happened to this College Football coach because he used a work phone for hobbying. This is a guy that was likely making multi-million dollars a year but he got careless

For your situation the odds of this being a cop are tiny. Likely the person will just disregard the message

Also every time you use Terb it should be with an incognito browser version. Pain in the ass if you have to login every time but not near the pain in the ass if you’re caught

Looks like roadhog is taking some pleasure in your current predicament

Relax, my friend, nothing will happen, guaranteed. Police have much bigger fish to fry then some silly text message. They know what's going on and don't care. Otherwise, every agency and this board would have been shut down ages ago.

Why on earth are you texting on your regular phone?? Are you that naive? You're married with children, and don't think that one day something could go wrong? There are milions of scenarios where your activity will be exposed becuase you are using your phone. Get a cheap phone and a sim card from 7/11 and use their pay as you go plans.

Thank you everyone. I'm going to get a burner phone this week.

I honestly hope nothing happens but the amount of guilt and sheer dread is overwhelming. I might lose everything over a dumb mistake but the odds are low. Hoping karma isn't real but this is likely my penance for cheating on my wife.

And another thing - if you must discuss services over text message, learn to speak in code.

Instead of saying "do you have anyone that offers anal?"....you say "do you have anyone who speaks Greek?"

This is a secret society; anonymity and discretion is key; learn the secret handshake!

Thank you for your confession.

Your penance is to go to the LCBO; grab a 6 pack; get a pizza; go home; drink the beer; eat the pizza; and reflect on what you did!

Tomorrow is another day.

You didn't offer money. So it's not a crime.

Next time use your wife's phone and see what paranoia can do to a man.

Isnt the SIM card the important issue? If I keep an old cell phone when I upgrade to a new phone just put a SIM card from 7-11 or wherever into my old phone
