I know some people would say the dad was too aggressive but I don't. That's just a good and stern lecture to set the kid on the right path. In the old days that kid would have gotten the belt or worse.

When I was a kid if I talked to my mother disrespectfully I got beat with a belt. I only did it once. I think the kid got off lite

Discipline. Sometimes kids need to be put in their place and learn boundaries. Dad was being a good dad by giving the kid a stern talking to. Better to learn from dad than from someone else later.
