Did anyone watch that special last night about the porn industry?

Made me wonder why these girls don't just become SP. The money is probably better for SP and they don't have to give up their self respect. Also have more freedom to protect yourself.

Perspective

From the many women that I have spoken to and met, there seems to be a rivalry of sorts between people who work in different aspects of the sex industry.

Remember the days of the Playboy Bunnies - well the Bunnies and the Playmates disliked each other. Each side thought what they were doing had more self respect.

From what I gather women involved in the sex business, and it does not matter at what level, tend to enter areas that somehow fit their beliefs or psychology. A Waitresses at a strip club, shooter girl, Stripper, MP, SP, Dominatrix, Slave, porn actress - each one of them thinks they are in the part of the business that has the most self respect.

I personally cannot say that one job is better than anothers. Its a matter of what makes you comfortable and appeases your expectations. I have friends who think working for an adult news site somehow degrades me. I also have friends in the business who look upon others who have *square* jobs with a sense of pity - believing THEY live lives that offer no self respect.

Ultimately, I am willing to bet the creators of that documentary suffered from the same mind set. And a good deal of what and how they portrayed the information probably reflected that belief.

One cannot look at the careers that people have and claim one is better then another. I think the context in which that career was chosen makes the difference.

I do believe I am rambling.

Oh and by the way, I have not seen the documentary LOL

yeah 2000/day when you work, but thats it. Also no work if you work with condoms only...just odd how they risk their health for a 2000 grand...you can make that at Mikey D's in one month as a part timer.

I know the braodcast was biais but if you just look at one ratio, pay vs risk its a pretty shittly deal.

I've seen a number of adult movies on Playboy TV and one of the Movie Channels where condoms are used for intercourse. In fact, I've seen more and more of this lately, so it seems there is work out there for condom-only actors and actresses. I've even seen porn stars come onto Playboy TV programs and come right out and say they are condom-only. By the way, the main porn actress on this documentary, Bella Donna, (Michelle) was on Playboy's Night Calls a few months ago, and she sure seemed extremely happy and upbeat during that appearance. I really enjoyed the special. On another note, can anyone please tell me when actresses started to be refered to as actors, like men? I'm hearing this a lot on Canadian media, but as far as I'm concerned, as long as the Oscars and Emmys refer to women as actresses, I'm going to call them actresses, not actors!! What is wrong with differentiating between male and female here??

I saw the special. I though Maria Bartirolomo (sp?) would have been a better choice than Barbara Walters to host the show.

Are we all talking about the same TV episode, as MEEE is refering to the correct episode, as was the thread starter?

I though the host for this report last Thurs. at 22:00 hours DST on ABC was Diane Sawyer, here are 3 stories from that episode:

what was interesting was Belladonna after seeing the previous show where she was crying and stating she hated herself, thought about suicide and desperately wanted to leave the business...they caught up with her a year later and she said then "i will be quiting the biz soon" and now present she is still actively working...winning numerous rewards and finally a top performer...

it makes me wonder if she is a hypocrite and those "crocidle tears' werent real...or the fame and $$$ is just so great she keeps working
