You think the rules of society should benefit you the most and the rest be damned. My philosophy is superior on many levels as I realize that a society is ineffective if it is run by the interests of a ruling minority.
There is quite a difference between everyone receiving the same benefits and me always paying more than you. You don't seem to grasp that. I have stated that I'm quite prepared to pay more than my share for people who need it. However, I'm fed up with people such as yourself who think it's perfectly fine to always be net "takers" from whatever society you're milking. Aren't you the slightest bit embarrassed by you philosophy of taking because you assume the "rich can afford it"?

If I can't persuade you not to vote perhaps I can persuade you to immigrate. :D We need more people in this country willing to pull their weight and less people who think it's best not to reduce taxes because someone else is paying them anyway.

You actually meant emigrate, didn't you? Or did you really mean yo invite solitaria into your country. If you want to make an point, it's best to use the proper words to express it. Confused words suggest confused thoughts.

We have a progressive tax system in this country. Trust me, the rich pay a lot in taxes (it's almost like the government is your business partner). It's just that there are more 'non-rich' taxpayers in the population.

Then it only makes sense to bite the bullet and pay down the national debt dramatically, this will reduce the debt payments and will allow a real decrease in taxes

Wealth redistribution motivates all the wrong behavior.

I agree. And what direction has that wealth redistribution taken in the US in the last 30 years? We are now at the point where the richest 1% have more money than the bottom 90%. Through the tax code, to trade, to regulations, lawmakers have rewritten the rules to benefit the richest Americans, all the while telling us this is good for the country. I'm not expecting you to answer with any particular honesty, but do you really think this is a positive for the American people?

You're assuming that you are paying more into the system than me.

I'm not a net taker.

If compensation were based on hard work or even value creation I might be but it isn't. As I said I want a system of government that does some redistribution of wealth based on value creation and maximizing GDP. It is always better to maximize the wealth of the majority instead of the minority. I would say if anyone should be embarrassed it should be you with your ME, ME, ME first attitude. Let me ask you something, do you honestly think you've paid your fair share of social services with the national debt being what it is or do you think that fact combined with you wanting tax cuts makes you a freeloader on the back of future generations?

Actually, lowering taxes helps those who are productive.... ie those who work. Wealth redistribution motivates all the wrong behavior.

That's the theory at least. Only problem is it expects those people to reinvest their money in the economy which hasn't really seen to have much of an impact with your rebate cheques or our GST cut. The lost revenue from our cuts hasn't been replaced by taxes on increased economic activity so we have a deficit again (which you guys down south always seem to have). I have no problem with increased tax to pay off our debt because in the long term it will allow our tax dollars to be spent on things other than interest.
