Well they took it in their stride. One of them fled the apartment and was crouched down on the street between two cars in her teddy for about an hour. I found her and brought her back up. The ambulance drivers were fine. No police, because we called for medical help right away.

My mom passed away in our home of cancer. Our first call was to the funeral home to come and retrieve her body.
But if the death is unexpected I'd reckon a call to 911 would be in order. They ask fire, police or ambulance you would choose ambulance.
No it is a very nice peaceful process. They have rules and regulations around it. With MAID the police do not come to investigate the Doctor will call the coroner (the call is expected) a witness (probably not a family member) will verbally confirm to the coroner what happened. Funeral home can be basically scheduled in advance but allow time for the coroner call to happen.
Police come to any death outside of MAID and a death in a hospital. When my Mother died in a retirement home the police were called, they interviewed me and my brother for about two minutes (they had already talked to the staff) and everything was fine. Officer was waiting in his car and stopped us on our way into the retirement home we had NO IDEA it was going to happen
Same situation for me with my father in a small town. Called 911 and asked what to do, they sent EMS but without sirens blaring thankfully, but all of the above were there at some point.
A long day that I don’t wish on anyone.
My dad died at home. It was expected. Called his doctor and went to pick up a death certificate. Called the pre planned funeral home and they came in a non descript minivan to take him away. No police, no ambulance, no paramedics. Very calm and peaceful.
