When someone passes away in your home of natural causes, who do you have to call?

thanks.

Does dying from natural causes hurt? And for that matter, does dying via MAID hurt?

Just pack the body up in the rubbish bag (use contractor quality) and set by the kerb come trash day.

But seriously...911. In some countries they will do a brief examination/autopsy. Depends what the medical record is, or hospice status, or whatever.

Good luck.

Unfortanately this happened to me. I found my Mother in her home when I went to pick her up for groceries.
Call 911. Fire, police and paramedics will show up. Then the coroner will be called in. Cops will inspect the house for foul play/B&E.
Don't make jokes about this issue.

Well, kind of weird to post here first, instead of calling 911 and asking them who do you call or the 0=zero operator.

As far as MAID is concerned, I'd like to go the way my dog went when it was his time.

He had stopped drinking water and eating, at 13 years of age, with no energy at all. He was obviously suffering, so I made an appointment with our vet to have him put down.

Although the experience was devastating for me, it was very peaceful for my dog himself.

First the vet gave him an injection to put him into a deep sleep. Then, a minute or two later, when he was fully sedated, the doctor gave him an injection to stop his heart. There was no evidence of any discomfort or pain whatsoever.

That in comparison to watching my mother pass away from cancer, full of morphine to ease the pain, mostly out of it yet still semi-conscious, the entire process taking at least a week. Horrendous for both her and her children.

I second the response up thread.

911. Ambos come, the uniformed police secure scene if nothing fishy.

Ambos clear, you wait a few hours and coroner comes, pronounces.
Police depart once coroner is happy.

The funeral home folks you have contacted while waiting through this to come will arrive to take body away.

Makes for a long day. Don't ask for more detials, but I have also been through this

If the person is dying as in has cancer and the death is expected, you usually just call the funeral home and they arrange everything for you. That is what we have done for passing family members.

But if you walk in on someone dead, you don’t know it was natural causes even if you suspect it must be and therefore 911 should be called.

I have known two working girls who killed their customers. Had to clean up the mess both times. Heart attacks. Both of them. Long story. But true. As long as you call an ambulance you are off the hook. no pun intended. Ambulance crews were polite and friendly and non judgmental.
