Mellowjello...your wish is my command

DooWop....a niche genre that seemingly disappeared after a few years from the Mid 50,s to the early 60,s

This came across my YT feed recently. Bassist Marcus Miller, Keyboardist George Duke and Saxophonist David Sanborn got together and formed a short lived group called DNS back in 2011. This is the product.

Wasn't aware Sanborn passed away last year from cancer. RIP.

Here's George Duke solo. I love this tune. Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson on the bass

"Reach Out" (1983)

Here's bassist Stanley Clarke with Howard Hewett (from Shalamar). They credit George Duke here but its not him, its keyboardist Denzil Miller. Duke was on another track from the same album. This is smooth.

"Heaven Sent You"

From the debut LP 'Bonafide" (1995), this is Jon B.'s second single from that album. Written and produced by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Who btw is back in concert this August at Casino Niagara. Sadly I have to miss it as I am in a golf tournament that weekend.

"Pretty Girl"

A sample of the lyrics which are str8 🔥

"I'll touch you in the places no one's been before
And I'll kiss you in the places men sometimes ignore.
Take you to a level you've never felt before
And though you won't understand it, you'll cry and beg for more."

"Nights Over Egypt" by The Jones Girls (1981). Produced by Dexter Wansel for Philadelphia International Records

Some silky r&b/soul with a touch of jazz.

One of the best cuts from Slick Rick's new LP. This one features Nas.

"Documents"

These two teamed up back in 1999 for Rick's album 'The Art of Storytelling'

"Me and Nas Bring it to you Hardest"

Most here will not have heard of this artist, but with close to a billion YT views, he was huge in his community. RIP

He followed the same path as his idol, Tupac Shakur. Guy led an interesting life.
