A Canadian group called The Diamonds recorded this song which was acknowledged as the best cover, which I agree. Their other top song called The Stroll which became a popular dance style which was kind of goofy. Another top Canadian do wop band was The CrewCuts with their big hit Sh Boom.
Eddie, "Little Darlin" by The Diamonds was a totally different song. It was one of my earliest faves, along with "The Stroll", and The Crew Cuts' "Sh-Boom". Seems we have similar tastes!
