Princess Stephanie of Monaco (ok, she's white but this was her attempt at disco)

Not a bad-looking girl...

Definitely a different sound than I'm used to hearing with Sister Sledge. A catchy tune here that has some shades of late 60's sound. Nice post.
But for me the crowning glory for Sister Sledge was the 1979 album 'We Are Family' produced by Chic's Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. That is one of the best albums of that era. Nile Rodgers says that this the the most complete album that they produced .

This is one of my favorite 21st century hip hop jams. There is another version that has a Kanye West verse but this one is with the legends Rakim, Nas and KRS-One. Everyone of these MC's is in my top 5 of all time.

First verse- Rakim
Quotable - "Timeless. So age down count in the booth. When your flow stays submerged in the Fountain of Youth"

Second verse- Nas
Quotable - " When they do make the whip you like, your chips ain't right By the time you could afford it, the car ain't important "

Third verse - KRS One
Quotable- " This is the difference between emceein' and rap. Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal. Emcees spit rhymes to uplift their people :

Breaking Atoms by Main Source is one of my top 25 hip hop LP's of all time. Released in 1991 at the height of the Golden Era of Hip Hop. The production and emceeing was handled the the Large Professor. The DJ'ing was courtesy of K-Cut and Sir Scratch, two Toronto natives.
'Looking Out the Front Door' was the best single from the album but the most famous might be 'Live at the BBQ' because it featured a then 17 year old unknown rapper named Nasty Nas who went on to be one of the best to ever do it.
This was my favorite cut on the album - 'Watch Roger Do HIs Thing'. Large Pro went bonkers with the drum machine and it has an uplifting positive message

RIP Mark the 45 King. What a remix of one of Eric B. & Rakim's classic cuts

Jeez, haven't heard this in years. Going to be adding this one to my New Jack Swing playlist. Produced by Full Force.
