I first heard this on DJ Rukiz's Blends For Dummies Vol 3 mixtape. Tight joint. Not sure what happened to this cat I don't think he ever put out an album.

what a set of pipes.................super good tune....great horns...great guitar solo
The pianist and bandleader is Jools Holland. For the past 20 years or so on December 31 he has hosted Jools Holland's New Year Hootenanny on BBC TV. Ruby Turner is a regular performer on that show. Go on YouTube and search Jools Holland Hootenanny and you will find some great music. Here is another sample.

Rhiannon Giddens trained to be an opera singer and also sings traditional folk music. She composed an opera called Omar, about the life of a slave in North Carolina. It won the 2023 Plitzer Prize for Music.

I am a fan of Sister Rosetta Tharpe too.

i became a fan later in my adult life.........man could she play the guitar..............my late father was a huge fan of black music, from the 1940,s onward ,,in his youth...Gospel. Jazz, Blues and early R&B and played the ass off them in the 50,s when i was a little boy....of course i never paid any attention............growing into my teen and 20,s years i became familiar with his record collection....it knocked me for a loop.........and when he passed 7 years ago i inherited his collection...lo and behold if found a couple of "yellow 78s" of Rosetta Tharpe and an album she made....i aint giving them up...My Dad..what a cool dude...no Perry Como for him,,Howling Wolf, BB King Elmore James et al....
