This song hit #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B charts making it the group's most successful single. Rightly so because this is a stone cold jam

R&B singer Keith Sweat covered this very well on his 1987 debut album Make It Last Forever

Fitting tune for this rainy Saturday.

I've probably posted this before because its absolutely one of my favorite R&B tracks of the 1990's. This was produced by Organized Noize, who were more famous for their production of southern hip hop groups OutKast and Goodie Mob.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, black music exploded. Rap/Hip Hop, R&B/Soul, House and variations thereof were all over the place. It was only inevitable that some groups like The Good Girls largely went under the radar despite being on a major record label (Motown). This jam would be considered New Jack Swing, a hybrid of R&B/Hip Hop sounds. Its dope.

I've heard this song a few times over the years. The lead singer got an incredibly powerful voice for a young lad. I guess you can call these guys the OG boy band

I don't recall this group from the early 90's, I guess they sorta got overlooked given the explosion of r&b music at the time. Its got a bit of a post New Jack vibe.
Lead singer Angie Stone went on to have a good solo career as a neo-soul artist in the 2000's.
