He goes back a long way and was the first blues guitarist, singer that I heard. I happened to see him live at the old Colonial Tavern on Yonge St. in downtown toronto where he sang One Bourbon, and Boom Boom. Great Show.
One of my all time favourites as a 13 year old. I especially loved the false ending!or this
I still think his song Breezing was one of the best jazz instrumental recordings ever.I really think that George Benson was underrated for his singing ability. No doubt he was a world class jazz guitarist, but brother could hold a note vocally. 'Give Me The Night' was released in 1980 and he brought the heavyweights out for it. Written by Rod Temperton (from Heatwave), produced by Quincy Jones and featured backup vocalists Patti Austin and Jocelyn Brown and Herbie Hancock on the electric piano.
One two three, look at Mr. Lee.Another huge fave from that era...
Do Ya Do Ya Do Ya wanna dance. One of my all time favourites as a 13 year old. I especially loved the false ending!
