I don't think I've ever discussed (or seen discussed) this band on here before. Powerhouse soul/funk band of the 80's. Hits galore. This is a smooth one from 1984.

This is probably the SOS Band's signature song. Hip hop sampled this one quite a bit

I have 2 favorite SOS Band songs. This one is an epic ballad from what is likely their best album 'On The Rise' from 1983.

And finally this gem from 1986 which incorporated a killer bass line and some mean cow bells

This one was quintessential 80's r&b. One of my favorites they had such a great chemistry.
'Saturday Love' Cherelle & Alexander O'Neal

One of my ATF house songs. It sampled Alexander O'Neal's line from Saturday Love
"When I think about you. My feelings can't explan"

A Taste of Honey were a short lived disco band from the late 70's/early 80's. They were best known for this smash hit which reached #1 on all major music charts. It featured one of the meanest bass lines ever thrown down in music history. Courtesy of the delicious Janice Marie Johnson.

They also scored a minor hit with Rescue Me in 1980. It ended up providing an infamous hip hop sample a decade later.

The hip hop sample was Positive K's 'I Gotta Man' in 1992

Cameo's 'Singe Life' (1985). Great funk band from the 70's and 80's

Niecy had some kinda voice. Her range is incredible. Never gets talked about. And those horns are just majestic.

Chante Moore did a great remake of Free. This was my actual introduction to the song.

Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay. His best song IMO. Apparently the reason this song ended with him whistling is he could not come up with a good ending to finish .

First off I hope that justice is served eventually, for the sake of all of his victims. But I ain't gonna cancel him like some others. I can separate the music from the person. I bought this album, which was one of the greatest r&b releases of the 90's, so I'll post and play it if I damn well feel like it. Thank God It's Friday indeed.

P.M. Dawn was a cross between psychedelic r&b, house and hip hop music. I found their debut album to be very creative and audibly pleasing. The big track on there was 'Set Adrift on Memory Bliss' which famously sampled Spandau Ballet's 'True'. But this was my favorite cut on the album, which for me had no skip tracks.

I may have posted this one in the past but its worth another one. Evelyn was only 17 when she released her debut album Smooth Talk in 1977. It contained 'Shame' and this gem which is one of my favorite cuts of hers.
