Loved their music. Favourites were My Girl, Just My Imagination. I think David Ruiffin was their best lead singer.

Absolutely, David was their lead in what was imho their golden era, with Eddie Kendricks also being great.

I still enjoyed them when Dennis Edwards took over David's spot after David left to go solo, but I much preferred their earlier songs to the 70's "psychedelic" era of Ball Of Confusion and Papa Was A Rolling Stone, etc.

A couple of David's first solo albums (1969+) carried on the more classic Motown sound, but when the disco era came along he began to be produced by Van McCoy and transitioned to that style.
