I did not know that. Just now looked at Wikipedia and saw he was lead with The Dovells on "Bristol Stomp" and "You Can't Sit Down", two of my early faves.
Listened to Smokey's Soul Town on the way into the office this am. They were killing it. Here's a select sampling
