Here's another one Ronnie could have done a great job with...

X..the song itself is ok..not my cup of tea....but in the hands of Ronnie..?,,well that would be a masterpiece...Dammit X she could sing the ingredients on the back of a soup can and it would be an instant like from me...

More coming later today. I know for many disco music was a "guilty pleasure", and some people hated it. But I loved it, especially early R&B based pre-80's treasures...
Nice. I was just a kid in that era but I think what happened is that people got tired of other genres trying to incorporate the disco sound and by the late 70's were fed up. Disco took over pop culture.
Bottom line is I love disco music. In many ways it was the foundation of future genres like electro funk, house and hip hop.

You know it ogibowt. That's right up my alley. The backing music is Barry White's orchestra I believe.

This by the Vandalettes, with Martha Reeves on lead. Later evolved into Martha & The Vandellas in 1963. (Has nothing to do with the white girls shown on the various artists CD cover)

Note the melody and chord structure similarities to "My GIrl" by the Tempts. "My Girl" was released Christmas 1963. Not sure of the release date of "He's All Mine", but likely before 1963 . Who copied who?

Temptations were one of my all time favourite vocal and R & B groups. Loved their recording of It Was Just My Imagination.

I think this warrants a little research. Wouldn't be surprised if the producer was the same.
Nevertheless even if He's All Mine was first, My Girl is a far superior song. In my opinion at least.

The Temptations are my favorite Motown group. And Just My Imagination is my favorite Motown record. Eddie's vocals were immaculate on this.

So this song isn't necessarily 'black music' per se, it was an 80's new wave/synth track. But this remix gives it a little soul/rnb vibe, mostly due to the juicy bassline. I've been playing this joint daily for weeks, its just killer. Put the headphones on for this.

During the early part of the pandemic when everyone was stuck at home D-Nice was the first guy to start a DJ podcast to help lift people's spirits. Others like DJ Jazzy Jeff followed but props to D-Nice for being the innovator.
This was his most successful record, from 1990. He started as part of the Boogie Down Productions crew.
They took the sample from The Turtles 'Buzzsaw'. Just sped it up. Quite innovative.

More Evelyn 'Champagne' King. So so good.

Her vocals were sampled on this classic Ice Cube record
