so deep in my vault, i had to use a roadmap to reach back to the surface......again. a white, skinny, pasty faced teen listening to this instead of The British Invasion and a year later buying a Stones album in which they covered this tune..................my kinda music, even after 55 years plus
Nice. I recall you might have posted this some years back. The horn sample was used by hip hop producer Pete Rock on the track Skinz feat. Grand Puba. What a crate dig - that's why he's one of the best to do it. Here's the sampled track.

I've been organizing/consolidating my 21st century r&b/soul playlist and came across this one from J. Lo. Circa 2003. Really catchy track with a killer video. Damn her body so fine. Fabolous def had swag back in the day too. This dude was guesting on everything under the sun.

Lady T doing her thing a year or two before she sadly passed away. Nice duet with Faith Evans here. One of my favorites from her.

Amel Larrieux has one of the sweetest soulful voices I've ever heard. When I want to mellow out I just put on her discog. She got her start with the r&b duo Groove Theory back in the mid 90's. This is a great solo track from her.

Here's Amel in 1995. From the self titled debut album Groove Theory. One of my favorite albums of 90's r&b

This was the smash hit song from Groove Theory. Tell Me. Reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jaheim is definitely one of my favorite 21st century r&b singers. Such a unique soulful voice. Finding My Way Back.....great cut.

Took me a bit of time to find this on YT. This is Jazmine Sullivan performing 'Let It Burn' at the Soul Train awards in 2015. It was sung in tribute to Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds. Let It Burn takes a sample from After 7's 1989 song 'Ready or Not'. The song was written by Babyface for After 7, a group that comprised 2 of his brothers, Melvin and Kevon. You've seen me post about them in the past - they are my ATF r&b group. The cool thing about this video is that they come out mid way through to perform that song. Unfortunately its without Melvin. His son Jason filled in instead.

After 7 released an album in 2016 called Timeless. It was their first studio album since 1995's Reflections. This was one of the cuts from it, which they performed live for Sirius XM's Heart and Soul. Nice little Marvin tribute to start.
