My opinion is that it is idiotic to be upset about burning of a book, and that it is idiotic to make a public spectacle of the burning of a book.

.....
This is getting really weird... again violent agreement between us....

I sort of expected my post to be a bit too sophisticated for you to understand. So here is, especially for you, the 3rd grade answer:

NO
Glad to see that you can actually make a decision. IT really wasn't that hard was it?

Islam, the religion of Fear and Death...You must respect Us, or else.
We can burn your Bible, but how dare you burn our Koran.

When Karzai condems burning Bibles by the Saudis, Iran etc. I will condem burning a Koran.

Firstly I suspect Karzai is far too busy to worry about what goes on in Saudi and Iran.

Secondly your morality is flawed. Either you think an act is right or wrong, on your own two feet, if you need Karzai to set your morality you are in trouble.

For instance here in Canada we say it is wrong to beat your wife. We don't need Karzai to condemn it over there, to know it is wrong everywhere.

We need to pull out of all involvement with these primitive cultures. No trade, travel, diplomacy, immigration, etc. with any medieval country in the Middle East. Enough is enough. They need to evolve before they are allowed to participate in the world.

The twit in Florida should have been ignored by the media from the get go. Why is some nutjob even news?

Will you be the first to volunteer to give up your car, and agree not to heat your home this coming winter?

Walking IS good for you, I learned recently that exercise not only improves your physical health, but your mental health too, apparently it actually promotes the growth of new neurons--so perhaps it'd be good for you to get rid of the car! Also, real Canadians should have no problem dealing with the depths of winter cold. Just layer up, and buy a quality sleeping bag, and you'll be fine.

If we can get enough people like you to volunteer to slash their energy consumption we won't need to trade with those "primitive cultures".

Now hold on there Cowboy, I am planning a trip to Saudi, it may be my last shot to see a real medieval culture.

Can't argue on the second point.

we need to build more nuclear plants to reduce dependency on oil from mid east. thorium seems to be more abundant than uranium and also safer from proliferation.

as for cars, biodiesel or ethanol are the future.

The US burns 1/6 of the world's corn for ethanol already.
1/3 of the corn they produce is eaten by cars.

Biodiesel makes no sense in times where we are concerned with food production through the world.

Corn always was a bad choice. Another crop should have been picked.

There are actually some amazing things starting to come together with algae and grasses, but the question is when can they be viable?

All they have to do is look to Brazil!
Brazil made a concerted effort on alternative fuels and it paid off. Now Brazil even offers to export their excess to the USA! All the USA has to do is use and improve what Brazil has done.

Yes it is in bad taste to burn a Koran. It is bound to offend someone, even a lot of people. You do not have the right to not be offended. What the pastor did was in poor taste, but not illegal. The reaction of people across the world, to kill people completely unrelated to the event is offensive and illegal.

I am waiting for the next offensive action to occur that raises a crowd in a muslim country. At some point a crowd will attack a compound that is guarded and defended by people who remember what happens when the "Religion of Peace" is offended. It is my belief that at that point they will defend the compound with heavy weapons.

yes the pastor is probably a nutjob wanting attention. Does this justify murder on the other side of the world? it is as silly as people burning buildings and killing people for drawing cartoons.

As for fuel. Alcohol could be the answer, but probably not ethanol, North America does not have as much sunlight/energy that brazil has, sugar cane will not grow here. Methanol from waste abd scrap biomass, even garbage can be produced. To provide the energy for that look to thorium wave reactors. (China is spending the most on this technology, Bill Gates is funding U.S research). We need electricy to power a system to make liquid fuels.

Tobacco as a biomass crop would be interesting for methanol or ethanol. It's 10% solids and 40 percent sugar.

Coming from a smarmy Liberal, I'll take that as a compliment. Your knowlege of your own ass is comparable.
