Patient Zero at this salon had a close personal relationship with another Patient Zero at the second Kingston Nail Salon that has an outbreak.
The first one spread to 6 other employees first (no masks when clients were not around). Then 5 clients were infected. It has been notably reported that many of the clients declined to wear a mask.
I learned to do my own manicures and pedicures after getting a gross infection at a -ahem- typical nail salon. ALL of which seem to have little if any understanding of sterilization or even general infection control.

This is the 2nd nail salon in Kingston referenced above.
It is very notable that to date there are ZERO deaths from Covid in Kingston. As of Jun 26 only 79 cases were reported, making Kingston one of the healthiest cities in Ontario. It seemed they had made it through in exceptional shape. Thus this outbreak is a shock to the locals there, many had hoped they were out of the woods.
Doubly surprising is that it is nail salons. These salons are usually run by asians who almost religiously wear masks and are usually very conscientious about washing hands and being careful with health concerns. Very out of character.

I have very different experiences with Chinese run business' when it comes to sanitation. Perfunctory at best. To be polite.
In this case, they are Vietnamese. I don't think it was a case of unsanitary utensils. I understand that mask compliance when not directly working with clients was very poor. I understand that Patient Zero had travelled to Toronto recently.
I also heard from the same person in the Health Care field in Kingston that all of the infected clients did not wear masks while getting their nails done.
Most of the people on this board have a passing familiarity with Asian run places and lack of hygiene
