Hopes and prayers out to the families. This hits close to home. Im going donate to the family fund. I hope a contribution will help ease some of the many trivial stressors. Distractions that sully the healing process. A SUDDENLY shocked and grieving mind needs rest diagnosis and therapy.
The Hyundai Veloster is a small sporty car. They were overloaded with 6 adults in it.
heard it's a shitty car too...now Shitty car + alcohol?+ overload+closed construction site - meaning, usually minimal warning signs and pylons and reflectors = loss of lives...checks out.
it doesn't matter what car they drive, they were drunk, speeding, not 1 of them told the driver to not to drive.

I guess that would mean 2 persons in the front seats and 4 in the back, the two girls sitting on the laps of two guys. So, probably no seats belts on the back seat passengers. Front seat we don't know but if you hit a deep hole at high speed it probably doesn't matter. I don't know, does this make sense?

You think they just crash like that and died, it obviously speeding and alcohol involved. They didn't see that road closed sign and the pylons because they were drunk
Apparently, they were found inside the concrete pit that was sitting in the middle of the road..

Police are focusing in on a large utility hole at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Barrie, Ont. that claimed the lives of six young adults over the weekend.
That hole is about as deep as a 4 - 5 foot story building (20 meters). They must have been travelling quite fast to jump the curb/lip of that thing, smash off the other side of the concrete rim and then plunge down that far. Looks like the construction company Con-Drain are facing charges. I can only speculate that their live construction site was not adequately barricaded and marked and these poor kids went driving right in to the open drain that could've swallowed a dump truck

I wonder if alcohol played a factor in that crash?
One has to be careful around a construction site. One time I was checking out an almost finished house. Opened a door to step out and just in time notice there were no stairs.
Getting those framers to do the safe thing is really challenging. I worked for a kitchen and bath reno place as a Foreman and I would pop in for surprise visits. Guys working at Heights without being tied off. Standing on rickety old boxes instead of spending two minutes to go out and get their ladder. Electrical work with power on. It goes on and on.
Then these guys on jobsites bitch about having to take so much time for safety measures. Tell that to the hundreds killed on jobsites every year because someone got lazy.
