Don't waste your time. Both Cool Runnings and Jerry Maguire made the top 10. One was a completely average movie and the other wasn't a sports movie. The only classic sports movies in the bunch seem to be Rocky and Raging Bull. Without Limits is notably absent from the list.

When Cool Runnings is rated higher than Slapshot you know the list is flawed.

"Puttin on the foil, coach. Want some?"

Best movie sports line ever.

I would have found room for North Dallas Forty, The Running Man, and Horsefeathers. I'd dump Jerry Maguire, Field of Dreams and Major League. I haven't seen a lot of the films on that list, but I don't see any that are better than Raging Bull.

As mentioned above, Jerry Maguire is not really a sports movie, it's yet another Tom Cruise vehicle. Field of Dreams is just sappy and saccharine, for the Iron John crowd, and Major League is a predictible rehash of every worst-to-first movie Hollywood has ever made, with a few memorable moments thrown in. It's pretty much The Natural + The Bad News Bears + A League of Their Own - Intelligence. It loses additional points for having two sequels which are pretty much the same movie, with fewer funny moments.

The Running Man is not that great of a movie, but I give it bonus points for the fact that the sports aspect is central to the plot, rather than used as an allegory for the human condition, like so many boxing movies, in particular.

Heaven, definately Heaven
Number One is *****ROCKY***** in my book. I don't care what's above that one on that "list". Although "Caddyshack" is funny, that really isn't a "sport movie", but a parody.

I always like "Slapshot" not because it's a terrific movie about Hockey, but when you look closely at it, it appears to be correlated to the TV show "Space: 1999" (or visa-versa). All the props match that show as well as some sound effects.
