I heard that 50 Cents has been granted a visa to enter Canada. Yet, it wasn't all that long ago when the Toronto police threatened to arrest Madonna for promoting clothed self-sex.

What message are we getting? It is acceptable to promote gangs, guns and violence but not safe self-sex?

I really think there is nothing wrong with 50 cent. He makes pop music that's catchy, I'll admit I like the track he does with Mobb Deep. Granted he's not pollitically correct I think there shouldn't be a concern with him coming into the country.

As far as I can tell hip hop doesn't drive kids to get guns, well no more so than heavy metal turns kids to suicide. Maybe because I listen to both types of music that they balance each other out..... I can't seem to figure out whether I should kill someoneelse or myself. LOL.

There are too many people listening to hip hop and metal to lend any validity to the idea that music drives people to act a certain way. I think there are a lot of other issues at play and if music does set you off there's something much more wrong than the type of music that you listen to.

Mcteague the MP for my riding just gave me more reason to vote against the Libs when he tried to keep this guy out of Canada, i mean 50 Cent has never stolen from the Canadian tax payer, cant say the same about the Libs

My opinion is, we should treat him exactly the same as anyone else trying to enter Canada. Don't let celebrity or notoriety bend the rules either way.
Fame and fortune has a tendency of making border crossings easier or even non-existent.

For example, I would doubt that Russell Crowe would have any real difficulty getting into the US, even after being convicted of assault there.

And if the rules were strictly applied, then plenty of MLB ball players couldn't come in to play the Blue Jays, a lot of rock stars couldn't come in to perform, and movie producers couldn't shoot movies because of stars with records. George W. Bush has a DUI conviction, but was granted access to Canada as President of the USA.

The money that celebrities help to generate can cause entry requirements to be overlooked.

50 Cent better than the government

50 shot his movie here in the summer. My friend's place got paid a ton of money to close for a week and got free renovations. That is more than the government has done to help my friend's business in 10 years!!! As for the music and the message? What message? Music reflects what is going on in our world or tells a great story. If you do something really bad because you hear a song than you are sick and need medication and treatment. You would have done the deed whether there was a 50 cent or not. Remember Iron Maiden in the 80's? Everyone thought they were satanists out to make everyone a satanist? Murder, assault and mayhem were around before pop music and will be around long after 50 Cent gone.
