I remember hill street blues mash all in the family jeffersons. I waited three months for an MRI from bmh. fortunately im able to go anywhere in the world. This is a welfare country and if its not it will become. I have worked in canada us belgium and uk without hesitation as frankie siad. Fuck this health care system fuck the provincial and federal governmtent almost a million people waiting for imaging and treatment that they cannot get their hands on. My prostate cancer has become very advanced I will not die in this shit hole country. Ive had my share of fun with the ladies and I appreciate everyone of them. They taught me lessons I didn't even know. Met Catalina from TP for the 5th time shes a gem. Best of health to everybody. God bless
If you need an MRI post haste and don't want to endure the long wait times, consider shelling out $$$ and have it done immediately. Yes, Ontario does have a thriving two-tier healthcare system.

In Toronto, you can also book an MRI scan with a private imaging clinic. Doing so may speed up the process, but it can also be costly. For example, private clinics such as Ilumina, Axxess Imaging and MedCentra offer MRI services.

I tore up my knee playing sports. They did a CT in emerge and said I had in fact torn a ligament, somewhere between 5% and 49%. They said I may or may not require surgery but the CT can't determine the level of damage accurately enough. They said they could send me for an MRI but I would have to wait 4 months for it. I said 4 months? It would practically be healed by then. If I did need surgery, I wanted to know sooner than later so I could either start rehab or book surgery. So I paid $950 and had my MRI results in 3 days. I went back to the doctor with the results and he said, good news, no surgery required. You can start rehab/physio once the pain subsides.

There's not a chance in hell I'd wait a long time for a screening procedure if I was looking at a cancer diagnosis. I'd hit the private clinic immediately. The other benefit of going to a private clinic, is that it frees up a spot for someone waiting for an OHIP covered one.

Gators, sorry to hear that you are going through this man. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you get treatment soon.

For imaging, as Gameboy27 said above, please try to get an appointment at an outpatient clinic. Usually they will accommodate you faster than a hospital. Also reach out to RZG as he has been through the same disease.

If at all you have to go abroad, I can only recommend India. You could go to AIIMS or Apollo Hospitals and am sure there are others. They will provide you with the same world class treatment at a fraction of the cost. Medical tourism to India and western patients are incredibly common, so they will be able to help you out. If you have the money, even the US will be a great option because you dont have to travel half way across the world.

But hope it does not come to all that and you are able to get the treatment right here in Canada, at no cost at all. We live in one of the best countries and yes, the healthcare system isn't perfect, but you have to keep trying with various outpatient clinics, various hospitals, incessant follow ups, putting pressure on them by conveying urgency etc.,

One strategy I have also found helpful in Canada is to overstate your pain or health condition, that puts doubt in the minds of a doctor, so they go, "Oh shit lets check this out pronto". I frequently play that card to get faster treatment. Yes, it is a bit of a scumbag move. But fuck all that, when it comes to your health. Try this first before you put yourself through a lot travelling outside.

I would argue that comment. While you don't have to pay out of pocket for most procedures, it's far from free. Much of your taxes goes towards healthcare. So yes, you're paying for it. Whether you use it or not. I have a friend in the US who has excellent coverage through a private insurance company. He pays the same or less that what someone here pays in taxes. Except there's virtually no wait times in the US. They have excellent hospitals.

You'll also get better treatment if you have a good attitude, compliment the nurses and doctors and genuinely want to get better so you can get on with your life. They take all that into account. If you're an asshole, you'll get treated like one.

Oh I am not making a technically correct argument man. When you go with your health card its free. Yes you have paid for it, but you dont pay during care.

Again not talking about quality of care or about how doctors behave with you. I am talking about how they prioritize cases. If you want them to move you up the queue, they need to think something is wrong that needs immediate checking. So you have to put them under pressure without being an asshole. Basically make them worried about you. lol.

A friend of mine hurt his back, ended up being a blown disc. Anyway he was told it would be about a 4 month wait for a MRI. Went to a Buffalo private clinic paid about 750US and walked out with the results on a CD.

Yup, only you don't have to travel to Buffalo anymore.

It was awhile ago. About 8-10 years ago. Living close to the border it's just a short hop.
Not even sure if their is a private clinic in Niagara Region with a MRI. I know there are a few private X-ray clinics.

plus
pretty sure you can claim that on your taxes as well under medical expenses.... or if you are lucky to be on a benefit plan, they might cover it, but not sure

Many with advanced prostrate cancer also have erectile dysfunction.
Well that sucks. Gators, I'm very sorry if that's the case.

You can still eat pussy. What's the worst that could happen? You get cunnilingus cancer.
