I just want to make sure I have this straight.

If I get a transponder I pay a monthly fee of 3.95

Then I pay an account fee if 3.95? Is this per trip or monthly or one time charge?

Then I pay 4.20 per trip(camera charge), 1.00 per trip (toll charge) plus mileage.

So one trip before mileage will cost me $13.00????? Is that right????

How is this worth it?

You pay a camera charge if you don't have a transponder. If you have a transponder, it's just $1 per trip plus mileage.

The transponder is billed annually (for me at least). There's also no account fee on any of my statements. So I think your math is a little off.

For me: on a Sunday in June I drove from Burlington (where the 407 starts) to Lakeridge Rd. for $27.33 plus $1 trip fee. On that particular day/time it saved me over 45 minutes in traffic. For me it's always a calculation between what does it cost and how much time do I save? I find that half the time, it's not worth it and I deal with traffic.

Thank you. This is good to know.

The website is a little confusing on the charges.

With taxes the monthly charge for the transponder is $4.46. But make sure that the transponder is either on or in very close proximity to the top of the dash board when entering or exiting the highway. Otherwise you will be billed for the camera charges. The transponders also have a finite lifetime and has to be exchanged for new ones once they expire. Otherwise, the signals will not be picked up. I had to exchange mine quite a few times over the years.

Yes,
Works best when stuck at or near the top of windshield 4-5" to the right of the A post or 12" left of rear view mirror especially if your vehicle has a lot of sensors around the rear view mirror.
The angle of the windshield can sometimes effect the signal when sitting on the dash.
