43. Why am I required to pay my 407 ETR fees?

As of November 24, 2005, any outstanding amounts on vehicle licence plates that have been submitted by 407 ETR due to non-payment of 407 ETR tolls and administrative fees must be paid prior to plate renewal.

The ministry must refuse to issue or renew a vehicle permit if outstanding 407 ETR toll amounts appear on our computer system.

If your tolls, administrative fees or interest are not paid within 90 days of your receiving a "Notice of Failure to Pay", 407 ETR may require the ministry to refuse to validate (renew) your vehicle permit, and, where the licence plate in respect of the unpaid tolls, administrative fees or interest becomes unattached from the vehicle or expired, refuse to validate (renew) another single vehicle permit issued to you and/or refuse to issue a vehicle permit to you.

You can pay your 407 ETR toll amounts directly to the 407 ETR or at any Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office.

Customers who have a dispute with their 407 ETR toll amount must contact the 407 ETR directly:

Telephone: 1-888-407-0407
Email: customerservice@407etr.com

Mail to: 407 ETR Concession Company Limited
6300 Steeles Avenue West
Woodbridge ON L4H 1J1

Go to the 407 office if you have any questions and get it cleared up at least 10 days before you renew your license.

It took me 3 months to clear up an admin error the 407 made when I got new plates to replace the missing front plate. If I had needed to renew my license at the time, I would have been very frustrated.

lol...before they do that the Government will have to come up and pay for the technology to create clean air. Then sell it to some foreign company for pennies to the dollar and leave us at their mercy to seize whatever assets we have because their computers cant be wrong.

Our government will then tell us what a sweet deal it is for us. That they will be using our tax dollars to supply free labour to support the company they sold out to.

That would be the Canadian way.

What business has the Government of Ontario to get involved with the 407 payments?
407 is a private company, not government owned. Do the Ontario government get involved if you don't pay your phone bill or credit cards payments?

The 407 used to be govt owned, therefore they had the ability to not let you renew your lisc if you had unpaid fines.

They decided to sell the highway. They made 2 big mistakes, they had no price cap on toll's and still allowed the private company to have the privlages of being tied into not being able to renew your plates or lisc. without unpaid fee's. [this was in all the fine print that the government agree'd too!]

People were mad, prices were highjacked thru the roof and still are being raised every so often, the canadian govt decided to take the 407 to court, they lost, the same day they lost the 407 raised the tolls by 1 cent just to show they have more power than the ontario government.

They sold the highway and made a big mistake.

Now the 407 is just for the rich, it is no longer than affordable. Its prices are insane.

My tractor trailers have the transponders mounted in the cab. Anytime there is a dispute it takes a major effort to resolve. The biggest hassle is just trying to get to talk to a live person.
