when one looks at the history of video game systems that are realized, a price point of almost 600 isnt that bad for the PS3, factor in you are getting a Blu-Ray dvd player along with the next gen video game system and it seems really worth it, I have had a change of heart about the Wii and consider buying it since the $280 price is really good, but from what I have heard its basically a souped up Game Cube with some fancy new controllers, not really next gen hype

My son and i play online quite a bit..... watch DVDs and such ...... The unit itself may not die but a controller or some other part does...so u take it back to costco and they give u a whole new unit.the_big_E said:
Rogers was selling PS3 for $549.99 basic package, actually not selling - preordering it, and it is sold out...I guess it will be the same story like with Xbox360 - buy it for $500- sell it for $1200-1500, if you are lucky enough to get ahold of one of this units....
Microsoft rushed their shipment of the 360. There are so many glitches to that console, almost every salesperson I have spoken to has told me not to buy it. The machine requires delicate ownership, and cannot handle multiple hour gameplay. The Playstation brand will always out sell the Xbox brand worldwide, and there is good reason for it too. My suggestion is to wait for the PS3, regardless of the time of release or the price.
As for the Nintendo Wii, I am going to get one just for the innovation Nintendo has for the actual gameplay. Nintendo will always lack in computing power, and graphics when in comparison to the Xbox and Playstation consoles. However, their innovative alteration to the controls and gameplay is what will always set aside the Nintendo brand. It's all about playing together with Nintendo. I mean just look back to the all time best games to be played in groups: Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Star Fox, etc. In any case, I am getting the Wii and the PS3, although I only play videogames like once every two weeks.
BTW, I am looking forward to that blu-ray porn though...
