According to the government's own research, the merits of the program are very debatable. But even if you support it, there is no reason why every class requires both an early childhood educator and an elementary school teacher.The ECEs are more than capable of doing the job. The teachers are only there because the Liberal government was sucking up to the elementary teachers' union.
You could preserve the program and get rid of the elementary teachers, saving about $1 billion a year in operating costs.
