My gut instinct is that this bum owes child support, has been vindictive about paying it to his ex-wife because she got custody of the children and has a lot of unfinished business.

Why would she even agree to this kind of relationship to being with? I do know of a couple in this area tho who were in somewhat of the same situation. They met threw a chatline and she lied about having kids knowing he hated children. After a year she finally told him she had 3, he still hates kids but he's not adversed to using them now to gain sympathy if he needs to.

This guy is simply trying to use their agreed upon living arrangement as an excuse to say they were "seperated" is what i gather from it.

He can say all he wants. The definition of whether or not it was a bona fide marriage would be up to a judge to decide. I think the stickler here is not that hurdle though. I sounds like this lady still loves the guy and won't take him to court and, as an added bonus, how do you serve him? Where is he?

Are all of you people who are suggesting that he give her 'just a million dollars" high on crack? A million dollars.. that $1 000 000!!Why in the world would he or should he or anyone for that matter?? Creep or not, I am sure most people's (including memebers on the esteemed board) value system would change with an instant influx of $30 million.

He did the smartest thing he could. He has probabaly moved his money to a safe and tax friendly nation and is sipping his martinis on the beach.

IMO, the guy comes across as a lowlife. Granted, I don't know all the facts but if from what I've heard he knew a year ago he won, waited until he got a divorce in January, and then cashed it in. I hope the lawyers have a field day with him.

Whether you want to give you ex money or not is not the issue. If you are legally obligated to, you should. What about his kids? You are a cold, callous bunch. You seem to forget this was money that "found" him. He didn't bust his balls getting it and he didn't inherit it. It was a freebee that wouldn't cost him anything personally to do notwithstanding the fact that he might have legal obligations to share it.

I think there is a difference in cases where there is a question of the loss of reality (mentally) vs just being a jerk. If you want to compare stories about human cruelty, I think you'd have to agree that men have a substantially longer laundry list of atrocities.

Or maybe the media / historians tend to be more forgetful when it comes to women's wrongs.

Sobeski's a cousin of a close friend of mine. The third wife walked out on him and they were separated for a long time. He is up-to-date with his child support for his kids from his second wife and they will be getting money in trust.

You guys are giving him a rough time. He won and the third wife was AWOL. Would you think it was fair that she refused to sign divorce papers?
