Woll is so injury prone, it's kind of pathetic. When Woll is healthy, he's one of the best goalies in the NHL. Unfortunately, Woll always seems to get injured. Woll now on IR.

Toronto Maple Leafs move Joseph Woll to IR with lower-body injury, call up Artur Akhtyamov
Stolarz is exactly the same. Like a clone. It's what held him back before he got to the Leafs.
Both were even injured in the playoffs when they needed them most.
Against Boston Woll was injured in game 6 and couldn't play game 7. Samsonov came in and they lost.
Against Florida Stolarz gets knocked out in game 1. Leafs lose in 7. They lost a key game 3 when they had the lead which would have put a stranglehold on the series. Only 4 teams have ever come back of 211 teams in NHL playoffs history. Less than 2%.

Here's Woll leg injury stopping a floater backhand with no one around him

Here's Woll leg injury with .1 seconds left in game 6 vs Boston in 2024.
Leafs were actually up 2-0 at the time so stopping the puck there wasn't necessary.

all those players you mentioned, and ORR is the only D man. ;) . also won the scoring title, TWICE.
He was a special player. No wonder Cherry loves him so much.

Hildabeast was very good as expected but lacks experience in the shootouts.
Their power play or lack thereof did them in again. It doesn't look like they have any set plays.
Hence pass catch look nothing pass again rinse repeat. Montreal on the other hand has an exceptional power play and it showed albeit a rare short handed goal against.

TB has lost their last 3 games. Miraculously Leafs are only 4 pts out of 1st in the Atlantic and they play them next. The proverbial 4 point game. Win, though, and there are still 4 teams ahead of them in the Division.

Woll 8 games played .928 save percentage
Hildabeast 8 games played .927 save percentage.
Only 1 goalie in the entire league who has played 8 or more games, or more than 200 shots against, has a better save percentage.

One thing very noticeable about Rielly, among other things, is he doesn't like to hold the line. Gives plenty of space for easy entries at even strength. When Stecher was in the penalty box it was Rielly who was killing the penalty when the goal was scored although it wasn't his fault. The forwards Laughton and/or Lorentz needs to block the cross ice seam pass. Montreal overall is a much faster team than Toronto.

That's interesting. You are indeed correct only Jesper Wallstedt in MIN has a higher save % with that number or more of games played.

Yes, Hildabeast looked terrible in the shootout.

Wow, Colorado's record so far is 19-1-6, for 44 pts after 26 games.
They revamped their goaltending late last year with two woods.
Wedgewood and Blackwood.

Leafs since Matthews, Knies, and Roy came back. Along with Laughton, Woll, Hildabeast, Stecher:
They've played 7 games. Won 5 lost 2. 11 of 14 points.
Goals for 23. Goals against 11.

The Leafs are 1 point behind Montreal. That SO loss to the Habs looms large.
Montreal is currently not in a playoff spot.
What looms larger is Leafs losing both their games to each of Boston and Detroit all in regulation.

He was as great a defensive D as he was an offensive D.
He was the Ohtani of his time.
And he could fight.
I saw him come across the goal area and go down on his knees, head up and facing the player to block a shot when the goalie was way out of position.
You can't appreciate how special he was unless you watched him in real time.

Oilers 31 games 14-11-6 for 34 pts -4 goal differential currently in the 1st wild card spot.
Leafs 30 games 14-11-5 for 33 pts +3 goal differential currently 5th in the Atlantic and would need to pass 5 teams to get to the 1st wild card spot.

Vegas has 15 wins in 30 games and they're 1st in their Division.
Florida has 15 wins in 30 games and they're ahead of only Buffalo by 2 pts in their Division.
