No gimmicks like last year, just skill on display. It was enjoyable to watch.

Probably the greatest sporting event I've ever seen.
I wish they had a fighting competition. Everybody has to go against a robot John Ferguson who just keeps throwing straight rights.
This McDavid kid looks like he could be a keeper. Definitely some potential there.

Stanley Cup.
That McDavid kid looks like he could turn out to be a pretty decent player.
Matthews did some good drafting for a shinny game.
Both goalies were good.
That line of Debrincat, Barzal, and Forsberg was good.

Unlike previous iterations this one was no joke. You obviously didn't watch it so you wouldn't know.
Put a million dollar in front of people's faces and you'll see effort unless your name is Kucherov.
Plenty of players currently don't even make a million. A million is like 10 to 100 grand for the rest of us and that's some good change.
Last year's skills competition was a joke. Everyone knew it. The League knew it. Hence the revamp.

I can't get into it because the whole thing is poorly done. All all-star games are a joke now and don't mean anything, but the NHL being such a hack league brings it to another level like they always do.

With all due respect, the all star game in every sport, aside from baseball, is an insult to each respective sport. Hockey all-star is no worse than NBA or NFL. They are all walk throughs. Baseball is the only sport where defense is played with passion.
Once upon a time in the NHL, the all-star was the first game of the season. The Stanley Cup champs vs. the all-stars of the other 5 teams.
You can be damn sure that there was a ton of pride on the line. It was played just as hard as any playoff game. When you think of it, that format created an instant classic.
Previous iterations no one is disagreeing with you but we're talking about this year which you didn't watch.
