By the way did anyone see Pop's interview regarding Tim Duncan's retirement? It was chock full of his dry sarcastic humour.

But the thing that stuck out the most was he said that Tim was not the type to dunk and pound his chest as if he was the first person to ever dunk.

I agree I could use a little less of that.

I hate the guys on the bench who hoot and holler and jostle each other like a bunch of children..... but if that's what I gotta do to get the league minimum sign me up!

Raptors sign Fred VanVleet, a guard out of Wichita State. Roster filler? 905 player? all of the above?

Hope some of the youngsters can play cause if they can't and someone goes down, disaster?

I think 2-3 of these young guys will be real helpful this year. Poeltl might need another year but might be better than Cabocolo or Noguiera. I saw some clips. He seems to have a nose for rebounding and a nice soft touch.
But Norman Powell and Delon Wright should be playing meaningful minutes this year. I'd love to hear how DeAndre Daniels did in Summer camp too. That kid looks like he has great potential too. Hopefully he's 100% from his injury.

I'm surprised we picked this kid up. I thought the direction of this club has been for taller longer guards. Moving away from getting beat on defense with guys like Calderon. THis guy is undrafted and 5'10"??????? Not even sure he's super fast???

I'm not a fan of Cabocolo, Noguiera, or Ross, so I would not shed a tear if any of the three were traded, cut, sold or whatever. VanVleet has to be a work in progress, however. I did read a positive write up about his summer league play. Masai said, before the VanVleet signing, that this was the group they would most likely open camp with, they would sign a couple of guys and let them battle for the final roster spot.
I too was interested in DeAndre Daniels, I tried to see how he was faring in the summer league, but it didn't appear like he was getting much playing time as such you could not really judge his performance and of course there was notta in the press. Maybe he will be signed to play for the 905 or to compete for the last spot on the roster.
The "red rocket" was still a UFA the last time I checked, was hoping he might sign for the verterans minimum. See him as adding veteran presence and giving the Raps another PF that hit the outside shot. Would not expect him to get much playing time.

Rumors have it the raps are looking at blake griffin for patterson, carrol, noguiera and a future 1st rd pick.
Again, its only a rumor but imagine blake on this squad?

Griffin is a free agent at the end of the season, doubt if the Raps are giving up Carroll and Patterson for a guy that is most likely a rental.
