Good going in getting your team this far Lebron. Show them all what a real MVP looks like. Get a team of real nobodies to the big dance.

Win or lose, you did something special. :)

the only "old" guy on your list

I predicted the Cavs would win in 6 against Detriot.
My position was based on young legs vs old legs.

The Spurs are even older than the Pistons.

Duncan - 31
Bowen -35, w/b 36 on 6/14
Elson - 31
Ginobili - 29, w/b 30 on 7/28
Parker - 25

Essentially, they only have one player under 30 since Ginobili w/b
30 on 7/28.

LeBron - 22
Pavlovic - 24
Hughes - 28
Gooden - 26
Ilgauskis - 32

Essentially, they have only one player over 30, and "Z"
is 4 years younger than Bowen, their center.

If my argument is correct the Spurs will have the same
problem as the Pistons against the much younger Cavs.

LeBron et al can run them out of wind by game 3.

...is Bowen.... at early 30's in basketball..and you are washed up???...hardly...the 29-31 yr old Spur players are at their peak...still in great physical shape...and have been to the big dance a couple of times.

The reason the Pistons lost is that they couldn't shoot to save their lives. Tayshaun Prince had one more field goal in 2 games of the Eastern final than I did ...something ridiculous like 1-19 from the field...hell I might have managed that if I was on the floor...kidding...but if you look at their key players...from Billups to Hamilton to Prince... they all were shut down. And with no inside game to get easy buckets ..the Pistons were cooked. Look for the Psitons to make some moves..and don'tbe totally shocked to see them back in contention again..

The Spurs, do all the Pistons do on defense..only better...and they have a real offense that, because they are in the run and gun West ..can score near100 points on a regular basis

Cavs will be fortunate to pull 1 game off..the only wild card is if Lebron can have 4 games in th Finals like game 5 @ the Palace...that was just something to behold...

Was it poor shooting or good defense?

The keys for the Cavs are defense, rebounds and
keeping the turnovers to a minimum. If they can
play those segments of the game the points will
come.

Then again, that's the secret to winning any game.
Just curious .... Would this be a bigger upset then Warriors beating the Mavs ??

Somebody brought that up in another thread . I say that this would be bigger..

It would be great for the NBA if Lebron and the Cavs win the championship and I do hope they do take it. But like everyone here is saying, Spurs are fully loaded and it looks like the Cavs can't match up.

Cavs in 5

I would say a sweep but you figure that Duncan will win 1 game alone just cause he is so good .

Wade got it last year, Lebron gets it this year, Carmelo gets it next year , and then its us !!!!
Seriously though, Cavs in 5, outside chance of a sweep

 .. It would be great for Lebron and his wallet but the NBA I doubt it .. Cleveland isn't a large market team ..

Age was the only advantage I gave the Cavs for this series but I see that as a small advantage given that the Spurs are not over the hill.

To determine if this would be a bigger upset than the GSW/Mavs series I think it would depend on how many games it goes and the margins of victory. I'm still leaning towards the GSW series because Baron Davis had a serious injury that he played through.

why wouldn't it be great for the NBA? I mean Lebron has been in the spotlight before he was drafted by the Cavs. With winning the championship would solidify his superstar status.
This means more kids are going to buy more NBA gear (especially Lebron Jersey), the Fan base is only going to get younger and what the NBA is attracting is tweenies and teens and they spend a lot of mom and dads money. Honestly not many of them will know too much about older NBA players and Legends, so young Lebron is what its all about to reach that target market.
Increase rating since everyone has written out the Cavs losing to the Spurs, and if the Cavs make it a series it will make people interested and want to watch the game. Rating is everything, better ratings means more exposure nationally and internationally. Thus making more cash.
Plus his manners (being a team player and not a Kobe) during these playoffs have captured many peoples hearts so could easily make him a great NBA ambassador for many, many years to come.
The spurs winning the championship has not incentive for the NBA. I mean sure the Spurs are great, Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker are great players. But they not what I would call a PR/Marketing dream cast. regular people who aren't NBA buffs love one man shows that are tasteful and exciting (i.e. not Kobe, I hate that bum). Lebron has shown his superhuman like skills scoring and passing. He has risen his game up and everyone around him. People love great players getting better during crunch time.
hey we all love a feel good story, Cavs beating the Pistons made it all that much better. They took down one empire, not they need to bring down another. sorry going away from my point.
Anyways Lebron will show his mark in the NBA, creating a trickle with tv rating, merchandise sales, and eventually get more sponsorships or demand more money from their sponsors because of their higher popularity.

but this is my opinion, this what I believe why Lebron winning the championship will be boost for the NBA.

James is a superstar ... Crap he was a superstar in High School ... I think
the NBA likes having James in the Finals more then the boring classless Pistons

I don't think so.
No one man can stop NBA superstars ... Team defense will stop teams with
Superstars on them .... Hey let him get his points and cover the rest of the cast like a blanket...

Sure - sounds like the Pistons game plan.
Hey Cavs advantage is the same advantage the Warriors had over the Mavs..
Both Coaches ( Nelson and Brown ) really know the other teams roster and
the other coaches tendacies ... Although the Spurs have something the Cavs don't ... The Red Rocket ... :) Go Matt Bonner Go !!!

Ranking the NBA Finals teams, from best to worst: 1-10

1. 1996 Chicago Bulls

Hands down, the greatest team of all time. How can you choose another when these guys won 72 regular-season games and 14 of their first 15 in the postseason? The Bulls were so good they were first in both offensive and defensive efficiency, and outscored their opponents by 12.2 points per game.

With names like Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Toni Kukoc, not to mention a coach like Phil Jackson, this team was pretty much unbeatable -- in fact, seven of its playoff wins were by 17 points or more. The only nit to pick was the Bulls' consecutive losses to the Sonics in the Finals, but they were up 3-0 by then and seemingly bored with how good they were.

Bruce Bowen: NBA all defensive team last 7 years with last 3 or 4 years as All defenisive first team. Runner up to Ben Wallace and Marcus Camby for Defensive player of the year the past 2 years.

Also, bruce has the infamous "strategically place foot under the jump shooter and let them break their ankle move" or the kick the player in the ankle move as seen on Amare in the playoffs.

It's players like Doug Christie and now Bruce Bowen that shut down superstars like Kobe and LBJ during meaningful games.

Spurs in 5, maybe 6.

One series, Five questions

Which star will shine brighter?

Who will Robert Horry take out in this one?

Who flops better and more: Manu Ginobili or Anderson Varejao?

Is Boobie the new folk hero?

Cleveland's Daniel Gibson was the star of the East-clinching win, but can he produce on an even bigger stage? He won't be able to sneak up on the well-prepared Spurs

Who will be the most dominant non-North American?

The guy from France (Tony Parker), one of the Argentines (Manu Ginobili, Fabricio Oberto), the fella from Lithuania (Zydrunas Ilgauskas), the Yugoslavian (Sasha Pavlovic) or one of the players from another planet (LeBron James or Tim Duncan)? This series has NBA international execs drooling.

The reason the Cavs beat the Pistons in game 6 was
their defense. The Pistons only scored 36 pts in the
second half. The Cavs had 20 more rebounds than
did the Pistons. They only had 13 turnovers.

That's why the Cavs won. Gibson had a hot hand
but that's not why the Cavs won.

Defense, rebounds, turnovers = victory.
Your predication of tonights score would be ...

Spurs 96 Cavs 84 ... How about you ...

Spurs by 5. They won't score 96 unless it goes overtime.
Vegas has Cavs + 7 1/2.

The Cavs beat the point spread in all 6 games against the Pistons.
Well :) talk to you Friday Morning and see how our predictions come out .

Here's the season numbers for both teams

Points scored:
Spurs - 97.9
Cavs - 90.9

Points against:
Spurs - 94.5
Cavs - 86.7

Rebounds:
Spurs - 39.8
Cavs - 43.9

Assists:
Spurs - 20.6
Cavs - 17.8

Steals:
Spurs - 7.4
Cavs - 7.4

Turnovers
Spurs - 13.3
Cavs - 13.7

Conclusion: the Spurs score more and have more assists;
the Cavs are better at defense and rebounds.

Good offense versus good defense.

We'll just have to let them play the games.
 do you take into effect one team plays in the East and
the other plays against the West ... They have Dallas ( 67-15 ) and
Rockets in their Division ..

Hey I like the Cavs but the Spurs have all the components to be
a Champion ... The only flaw on their roster is Centre ..

I agree with RG playing in the East will make your defense look better than it really is since the higher scoring teams tend to be in the West.
