Sad but it was inevitable.

Brunswick House closing. The noise, the drunkeness, the assaults, the murder(s), etc. It'c closing is way overdue.

Queen Video on Queen West closing. A victim of technology.

I have fond memories of both establishments. Rest in peace.

The murders? I've lived a block away from the Brunswick House for about 30 years. I agree with the other complaints but the murder that took place a few years ago near the Brunswick House happened in the parking lot behind the Fed Ex building at the other end of the block. All the news reports referred to it happening in the parking lot behind the Brunswick House. Anyone who lives around here knows there is no parking lot behind the Brunnie.
Another example of how the media distort the news. Saying that it happened behind a well known bar just makes for a better story.

Never mind the bollocks☺. HMVs and Sunrise records are closing down. The world biggest book store at Yonge and Dundas closed down. When I go to HMV I feel like a dinosaur and usually the only one looking in a punk/metal section. This is the end of the world as we know it.

I'll miss the Brunswick House - crazy memories from back when I was in university.
I heard rumours that Boston Pizza is moving in but they want a patio.

Brunswick House might live to fight another day but nobody knows where.

I just hope nothing happens to Future Bakery or The Labyrinth Lounge.

I don't go to either as often as I used to but a few years ago, I'd always stop in at the Lab for a couple pints after work on a Friday.

Future should be fine for decades to come, but Bunsmaster went out of business a few years ago didn't it? Now that we're talking about food outlets, let's hope nothing happens to European Meats since it was very close to closing, but was sold a few years ago.

Depending on the business. Some close down not because they are losing money. It's because the owner decided to sell out to a big corporation, or the lease owner (commercial landlord), decided not to allow lease renewal because they want to offer it to a bigger paying business.

I'll miss the Brunnie and good 'ol Rockin' Irene. Not to mention the shitty tacos at the end of night that hit the spot cuz we were so hammered to know the difference. RIP Brunswick House.

and Danier Leather is closing down too.
http://www.blogto.com/fashion_style/2016/03/danier_leather_is_closing_all_of_its_stores/

the sales will be great I assume. I'm not a wearer of leather clothes (pants jackets etc) but might take a look at shoes boots and handbags.
Wow. Didn't know this. I'm going to check it out the sales.

Problem with being a store focused on leather is that when you buy something, it lasts for years so repeat sales are few. You don't need 3, 4 or more leather coats. My current leather coat is fine, except the button strings are getting really raggy and loose. I've had it for 5 years, but with a liquidation sale I'll grab another.

Another problem I suspect is that people are better shoppers now. I always by Danier, but only buy during their big holiday sales when a coat is at least 50% off. Been doing that for probably 15 years. It's not like a leather coat is ever a desperation purchase. Why buy one at $400 regular price when I can get it for $150-200.
