Sadly, the date doesn`t register with most people, even though it was one of the most tragic and horrifying events in Canada over the last 50 years.

Rest In Peace

..having been born in Montreal, and living there for the first 18years of my life, I remember exactly where I was the day I heard the news report back in 1989.
A very sad day indeed.

Such a waste, there was so much potential in those bright young people. :(

Colosseum - 3rd Fl. Apt 12.
Its unfortunate that the city I live in has such a sorted past and sad stories.

All the lives that have been lost, even recently and going back to the days of the FLQ.

It's a shame.

I Remember

I had just finished a night class at UofT, got into the car and heard the first reports on the radio as I drove home. The news just kept getting worse and worse. That night will always stick with me.

In a very dark place
Lepine was a name he created for himself. His father was Algerian and in the stories attached to the links beat him and his mother.

. . . might well be almost everyone can name the guy who did it. But tell the name of the victims (even one or two)!!

Although I believe in a free press I really think, after the initially flurry of court cases, suicide/burials, or whatever that the name of those commiting such crimes, their memory should be relegated to the scrap heap in hell and never uttered or published again!!!
Thankfully he killed himself. I`d hate to think how tough it would`ve been for the families to have endured a trial had he lived. You just know the media would`ve turned it into a circus.

And couple that with the fact that he'd be in a private cell, with internet and colour tv, conjugal visits and be out in less than 3 yrs......

This tragedy affected even the perpetrator's family.

Lepine's sister became an addict and died of an overdose a few years after the shooting.
