So committing mayhem on innocent animals is too insignificant to be acknowledged?
Sadly, we are reaching the point where we have to start triaging our LE efforts.

When parents are not allowed to discipline their children and when minors cannot be prosecuted nor publicly named after committing crimes, things like this are going to happen.

The bully almost always targets someone or something smaller and weaker than themself. This might be a younger sibling, or a family pet.

Growing up, I remember my parents having to remove the grapevines from the garden, they were a feast for raccoons. Where I'm living presently, there are no raccoons, to many raptors.

I'm not a photographer, but it doesn't seem possible to me that things in both the foreground and the background can be in focus simultaneously. The bushes in front of the car seem to be on a different 'plane' from the cars behind them, and all of the trees look artificial.
Depends. If said police are in Mayberry where the biggest monthly occurrence is somebody stealing the pie off Aunt Bea’s window sill, then yes; a case of animal abuse should get significant resources. If, however, said police are in a major city with daily gang shootings, rampant drug overdoses and unchecked car theft, then the death of a trash panda really shouldn’t be a priority.

The violent killing of an animal got a community of people upset, so the police are looking into it.
Toronto has daily gang shootings?
Rampant drug overdoses? What do you want the police to do about those exactly, since they are "rampant" and seem to be happening on every other block of the city.
Unchecked car theft? I wouldn't be surprised if they have a dedicated team of people working on that.
The side that's smart enough to realize when a crime is committed, the police have to act on it.

“As a community, we have a responsibility to each other, and that means coming from a place of compassion and understanding instead of the all-too-often fallback of judgment and contempt.”

This kid must be your son or your cousin. That's the only reason you could be defending this.
The cops didn't really investigate anything. The neighbours noticed him attacking animals and there was a nasty smell from the back yard. All the cops had to do was execute a search warrant. Second, it is a crime to harm animals so the cops are doing their jobs.
I don't know. Maybe the police need to execute a search warrant on your home. You're sounding kind of suspect.
