Observations of Bernabeu via BMO Field

I don't disagree with anything you say, but I would not hesitate to see them live again. It was overpriced but on the same note it was about the same as good seats to a Leafs game or to see a top band in Toronto. But more importantly than a practice game, it was an event. The way I see it as a soccer fan, how often will the individuals that were voted world player of the year for the previous two years show up in Toronto? In order to see a team like Real Madrid, although I am not a fan of theirs, it would typically require a trip overseas which is at a whole different pricepoint.
Off the top, let us re-iterate that this was an Exhibition Game and from the get-go, all involved knew it was so. That negates the 'they weren't trying' aspect of some of the opinions expressed.
If for one (as many of you know) am a Dyed in Wool
Blaugrana fan and could never bring myself to watch a RM game unless it was "El Clasico". Friday night was however, a Great Toronto Event.
Some people think it's crazy to pay big bucks for the Stones or Film Festival Tickets (which can be a lot more than $250.00, BTW) but that is what's important to that audience.
Los Pericos (Real Madrid) has one of the biggest fan bases in the world and Toronto is a big fan base for Futbol. A lot of these folks won't be getting to Europe anytime soon so, for this time, the Mountain came to Mohammed, so to speak. It will also motivate certain fans to take a trip to Madrid, experience Europe, another language, another type of food, music, customs, people etc, etc, etc...
I know a lot of people in the Great White North don't get the allure of
The Beautiful Game. We're probably the only country where "FIFA" is not an everyday word, but we're getting there. With Passion and Style, might I add.
Friday night was a very good step in that direction and, once again, a Monumental night for Toronto.
$15.00 isn't too much to pay for all that, is it?
