I bet that old man would be unable to elaborate on
what the sacrifice wasn't worth and why? If he truly
believes he is in a sad state of affairs it could be that he
has long lost touch of changes in the society in his
'golden years'.

He did not say much to interpret, but if you had to, I think the most appropriate interpretation would be that he bemoans the fact that the Nazis and their ideology he fought against are now back in many countries openly advocating for fascism.
That's certainly one thing people are projecting onto him.
Others are projecting how it is all about too much immigration and "liberals".

Oil & Gas proposes a very reasonable "things have changed, I am old, and I don't like it".

Of course, since it was a morning show, no one asked a follow up.

I bet you he would be able to elaborate. :ROFLMAO:

Your post probably proves his point. He's one of the most vulnerable members of his society, but you just dismiss him off as losing touch with society.

Yes, yes. We should implement a 100 year old man's social and political views today. lmfao.

Well that interview didn't go as planned, lol.

And there's no doubt in my mind that he'd love to elaborate that his country has failed to maintain the standards of freedom that he grew up with...Mass immigration dramatically weakened the fabric of British society...God forbid you say anything about it though or they'll throw you in jail.

Most of those guys went to war for the excitement and experience, not for freedom. It was more fun than bailing hay.

250,000 U.S. soldiers were killed in Europe fighting the Nazis in WWII. With
casualties in the Pacific war included the total military death was 407,300.

Canada suffered a military death of 42,000 which is relatively modest. Taking
into consideration our small population and that our troops were not involved
to any significant degree in the Pacific War theater it can be said our sacrifice
was more or less equal to that of the U.S. in fighting to liberate Europe.

It seems improbable such a large number of fools had joined the army seeking
the thrilling experience of getting killed (or getting maimed for life).

If you were of combat age in the war years, riding a motorcycle around
Montreal wearing a pointed Prussian army helmet like Pierre Elliot Trudeau
did while our boys were putting their life on the line in Europe, should be
a more rewarding experience. I will look to Trudeau the senior as the role
model if the Ukraine war escalates. Make the Europeans do the fighting and
stay out of the war.

Ya gotta love Mr Orifice, he enjoys wallowing in histrionics.

Wilfrid Laurier is considered Canada's greatest PM, the country went through a decade of population decline when he took office. Had it continued, Canada would have been swallowed up by our wonderful southern neighbours.

He said next to nothing about why he believes his country as it is now is not worth
fighting for. He could be upset by many things which we don't know. Maybe he
isn't happy the UK has not accepted more migrants and is turning away some
of them. Given his age and his less than articulate exposition of his
thoughts it seems reasonable for me to suggest him having lost touch one
reason he said what he said.

Actually we know nothing about what the old man's social and political views are
from the interview.

 So which one is it?
His thoughts which he expressed over an interview that lasted
nearly 10 min are that the sacrifice he and other soldiers made
was not worth it. I can't recall what else he said about the UK
today was not worth the sacrifice.

I dare them to call him a nazi.

You have people scamming the system getting cheap apartments, free spending money and other freebies. While he's probably live in a rundown, underfunded nursing home, eats fish sticks for dinner and has to wait like 6-month for surgery.

They parade him around once a year thinking that should make him feel better. He had other plans.

So we just dismiss him as some loony old man that's out of touch?

He told you the freedoms are worse today than back then. Is he really wrong?
