Something is really f'd up. I just happened to login to my online rogers account last night and it was showing that I used 100GB in 1 day.
Also that i was over my d/l limit and that there was $135 overage charges. I called Rogers and they said they will have a tech call me back within 48 hrs.
Has anyone else experienced this phantom usage? I know for sure that i did not d/l this much content as my computer was off and i was at work all day & went out after work.
Also my wifi is password protected with a complex key. Rogers rep was saying very rarely they see these charges reversed unless they find that there was a "leakage" to my line.

My sister said the same thing about Bell's monitoring usage. They didn't do anything, except blame the customer. It's a total scam. I would never sign up Rogers or Bell. These guys can't even get the usage monitoring straight.

Hard to believe people still use Rogers, Bell or Telus

I switched to Wind 4 years ago and have never paid more then 40 a month for phone, voicemail, text, email, and internet, which includes using my Blackberry as a hotspot for my ipad

and after your 5 or 10 gigs per month you are throttled down to less then Edge speeds. that's useless.. so not totally hard to believe why people use a real internet provider for home and not a crappy mobile plan with next to no data per month.

Maybe you son and his friends were downloading HD porn all day while you were out.

One BlueRay holds about 25 Gigs so ....................

You have to tell him to download SD porn which is less that 4 Gigs per DVD. No big difference in quality on iPad screen.

I wish I could get my hand's on some real good HD porn for free but this was not the case here. Lost my connection for porn when Mega was shut down.
I'm also single so there's no one else around to use this much bandwidth.

My last 4 to 6 months usage has been roughly 80 gigs for the month also trying to d/l 100 gigs on a 45mb/sec d/l rate would take some serious time.

Happened to me. Likely you opened a website such as CP24 and left the window open overnight.
Some websites are constantly being updated so they will continue to use your data if the website is not closed completely.

I hate Rogers & these big companies as mush as the next guy since they are all a rip off! I cancelled my cable tv services for many years now and the only reason i stick to Rogers for my internet service's is because I threatened to disconnect my internet
a few years back and they gave me a deal i couldn't refuse & that's the only reason i'm staying with them.

Anyhow the sales rep i spoke to last night was very helpful ( i know that is very rare as well ) and suggested that i upgrade my internet speed to the hybrid fibre 150 so that way my monthly usage will increase to 350BG for the month just incase the tech's can't find a leak or problem from their end & i don't get screwed for the $140 overage charge. He did all this and my bill is now $4 cheaper than what i was previously paying with all my "loyalty discount" intact. ALL this on the last day of the billing cycle.

Also just so everyone knows Rogers bills for data usage for 2 months back not the current month that your bill cycle ends. Which btw is total BS again.
Anyhow i guess we learn something new everyday.

Now all i can do is wait for their call to explain how i used 100gb on 1 day. I won't be paying for the overage charges since i made the switch but i would really like to know.
It will be a good bargaining tool to get further discounts on my internet.

You mean 200GB and $300 in overage charges later?

I had a similar thing with Rogers years ago, though no where near as bad. Went from using half my allotted GBs to 20 - 30GB over as if a switch flipped. After a few months of that, and dealing with Rogers customer service, I switch providers. Problem instantly went away.

You might want to check your utorrent upload and download limits....
It might have been reset to unlimited uploads and that may be the reason you used up a 100 gigs in one day....

I use Empornium to download Porn....
Great website...

Teksavvy, folks. They're the provider that refuses to give your personal info to the cops or feds and will fight them in court for it. They're the provider that fights for net neutrality and screams from the mountaintops whenever legislators or the big providers attempt to throttle or filter the internet. They're nerds, they're for the little guy, and they rock.

Fuck me. First review I've done that really and truly sounds like a shill :D

If you use a router, check the router logs to see if an unidentified user connected to your network during that time. Of course if this happened a couple months ago that info might be long gone depending on how your router logging is configured.

Also scan your system for any viruses that may be uploading/downloading crap without your knowledge.

Teksaavy wants customers to buy their modem/router or use their own and charges an installation fee, I would prefer to rent my modem and in case anything happens I would just call the company and they send a replacement.

These are the guys I been using the past 4 years and been happy with.
