Well, that is 25,000 people out of 3,000,000, with half of the 25,000 being over 46 years of age.

So with 12,500 or so people in the whole GTA under age 46 being HIV positive, and with the homosexual community being more represented in these numbers than heterosexuals, I don't think I will stop hobbying with female SPs over these numbers as I wear a condom.

Hey, Alex, I was about to get out the popcorn and settle back for the histrionics. Why do you have to ruin such a exciting over-hyped melodramatic tale tale with logic?

••••••••••••••••••••••

Can't resist the wisecrack, but have to add God Bless Casey House for all the work they have done and continue to do:

Casey House, founded in Toronto in 1988, is introducing a new Day Health Program that will more than double its capacity to provide care for people living with HIV-AIDS.

Is Toronto worse or more less the same compared to the national average? I might take hobbying to smaller towns such as London or Oshawa.

In her vagina
While gay men continue to make up the largest group of people living with the infection, new cases of women, aboriginal people and newcomers to Canada are also being diagnosed, the report said.

it doesn't matter the odds, if you were meant to become HIV positive, you'll get it in your first careless behaviour. If that is not part of your destiny, you will not get it no matter how you hobby.

Pretty freaky stuff

Will this be effecting your hobbying?

I hate to say it but this kind of stat makes me want to leave
Fyi, HIV and aids are not the same thing
In my opinion, I think if you sleep with anyone whose sexual history you're unsure of, there's risk. I'm sure some sp's are more diligent than others towards such matters. If you're really worried, wear a condom lol

Well there is a brilliant demonstration of logic. Since I've been hobbying for a number of years and I haven't got HIV positive yet, I guess it is not part of my destiny. No more worries.

Be careful not to see a lady who tours small towns from the big smoke. Many TO ladies now travel to London and Oshawa, use only local talent, but then again they tour the big cities as well, lol.

Those are some pretty good odds!! Winner winner chicken dinner!!

With all joking aside it is a lil disturbing to hear those stats. You can sugar coat it all you want "Well, that is 25,000 people out of 3,000,000, with half of the 25,000 being over 46 years of age." but there's still a risk of contracting AIDS, which btw is an incurable life threatening disease that will eventually kill you.
Fortunately I don't have to worry as much. I've been out of the hobby for over a year now and have no plans on getting sucked back into it.
Anyway, to each their own...

Your logic is flawed. You reduce one side of the equation but not the other. You imply that the risk to us is 12,500 out of 3,000,000. But you must reduce the 3,000,000 in half because we are only looking for women. They you must reduce that to the number of women in the desirable age group, etc. etc. In the end you are left with the original statistic. 1 in 120 is HIV positive. This makes me want to play carefully.

Everyone who isn't a virgin is dead of Aids, or at least that was what they were telling us 25 years ago.

Avoid taking it up the ass, avoid the needle games and there isn't much to worry about. Not as if condoms are optional in the SP game at least they be required.
Also when you remove the homos and the hard core druggies from the mix the numbers look a lot better. Might as well avoid Africans also.

I hope the 'bbbj' arms race doesn't come to halt because of these scary statistics.

I wonder why they don't quarantine HIV people. They pretty much quarantine all other deadly infectious diseases - Ebola, SARS, Leprosy ... I guess it affects disproportionately large percentage of gay men population, that no politician is willing to be labelled homophobia to do anything about it.

If you are really concerned about this get circumcised as well.

Also protective against penile cancer, although it is so rare that there is little point.

I've been snipped, don't know if I'd have the guts to do it as an adult though.
