Read business newspapers and magazines/ Watch BNN Bloomberg and do research on interesting business. Any stock you are interested in, look it up on Yahoo Finance. Just under the chart you will see a lot of info related to that stock and other similar stocks.

It was a brutal week on the stock markets this week, but I made a few dollars on Methanex when it went up 6 days in a row. I bailed out after three days and it still kept going up. Methanex is massively overbought, but I predict it will go up some more before the sell off.

Great stock MX.TO , on a daily chart it actually is overbought and ready for some pullback. Especially that it also is at psychological $40.00 resistance level.
I would like to know how important are price charts in your trading CC ?

Also i would like to thank CC for starting this thread. I don't think people really appreciate what they are given here. CC, your picks are fantastic and in the 5 weeks your winners alone generated 44.25% return. In 5 weeks guys, 44.25% !!! That is damn awesome !!!

Correction : Methanex is overbought this week.

The charts are the first thing I look at to determine how the stock is doing today, in the past and what it may do in the future. Methanex is an example of a unique opportunity where they are the major player around the world in the manufacture of methanol which is used in gasoline and the manufacture of many goods like plastics, paints, drugs, etc, etc.

Identify the unique stocks with little or no competition. Methanex is overbought at this time, shareholders will take profits and sell off making it attractive again. This cycle will repeat over and over again.

You would have an unfair advantage if you get to pick the day when you start. Submitting your entry on Monday evening after a bad day that pushed the markets down means that you do not have to achieve as much.

The judge has ruled............................and his supreme decision if final. Your entry starts Monday at market open.

Rule change

You can pick any stock listed on the TSX or NYSE, no penny stocks. You can also submit your picks after the weekend but your entry only starts the next day at the open of market.

But i'm ok with whatever changes you make. Just to clarify, what do we consider penny stocks in this competition? Under a $1.00 , under $3.00 or under $5.00 ?

If you think that picking a stock that had a down day on Monday is an advantage, we should simply pick stocks that had a down day on Friday
