Vancouver has grown too fast in too narrow an area. It can''t expand north, the mountainous incline gets too steep. It can't expand south, it runs into the USA border, Surrey is reaching it's maximum while remaining Canadian. it can't expand west, the Fraser River runs too fast, building a bridge across it would cost millions. The worst part is the noise pollution...and East Vancouver is over-run with drug addicts and homeless people. East Hastings St looks a lot like Kensington Ave in Philadelphia.

It's ironic that a recent transplant from Toronto has become so popular in BC.

They're killing the nightclub business in downtown Vancouver....
No shit. Why do you think e-commerce and free delivery is on the rise? People are getting sick of going out dealing with morons especially drug addicts along with the fear of the next big pandemic due to population growth. Most now just do small social gatherings with folks from their inner circle. I've barely left my place besides for work pre-Covid and still enjoy it after Covid. A lot of people out there with mental health issues need some facility to go to. And some of these homeless people are being bused away to other parts now.
This is the reality of the Trudeau Liberals and Carney will do the same. Rapid population growth due to mass uncontrolled immigration has caused lots of poverty. A lot of these homeless people end up on the streets. The government is concerned with asylum seekers and giving everything free to them. If you think Toronto is expensive, look at Vancouver. Prices are much higher. Did you know that a dance in Vancouver is $40 / $50 a dance.

Vote Liberal and NDP.

Then wonder why everything is falling apart.
Yep. But we got many Marxists who want more wealth redistribution with taxes, and many that believe that carbon taxes will change the weather.

I’ve been down that strip, it’s nothing to write home about

One of my most hated and annoying things I don’t wanna deal with coming out of a club after some drinks and feeling good is some stinky ass homeless person in my face asking for change

there’s thousands of them in van city

This seems to be a trend in almost every city I've been in going back even before COVID. Downtown is overrun with drug addicts and homeless forcing businesses to either shut down or relocate to a different part of the city. It's really sad to see and makes me want to live in a shack in the woods a thousand miles from civilization

Google ratings of some of the nightclubs featured:
Cabana nightclub - 3.2/5
Twelve West - 2.9/5
MRG Group - 2.2/5
Aura Nightclub - 2.6/5
Nightclubs are toxic anyway.
Maybe they should improve their business practices and how they serve customers instead of blaming it entirely on the city or the homeless.
