You are obviously not very well informed about how parties align politically. I have many democratic friends and they are appalled at Canadian policies and would cringe at being branded a Liberal, at least one by Canadian standards.

What the pole really says is that Harper is more popular than his party. He gets about 50% support while his party ~40%.

Not being an American, i will just make a casual observation: Anytime someone votes for a right leaning party, liberals assume they are either rich or stupid. This was openly stated during the last Toronto election. Maybe average people don't want a nanny state to take their money, spend it...

I take issue with calling the afghan detainees 'POWs'...they are not wearing a uniform and are therefore spies and can be dealt with accordingly. So while we should not torture them, we should deal with them as spies or at the very least non-combatant murderers.
