All I can remember about this electronics store is it was something like Atlas tools on Queen Street but it was strictly electronics computers and speakers. The story itself did not jump out it was very plain Jane.
Did it have a huge Gorilla statue standing out front? Sounds familiar, I want to say it started with the letter A or something.
Active Surplus?

There was another store a few stores down, tons of cool stuff, gadgets, electronics, etc.

TD Towers under construction in the mid 60's. Around 1968, one of my elementary school mates invited me to his birthday party , his father droves us to the McDonald's in one of the towers. It was my first time at a MDs, I had a cheeseburger fries and a coke. Before heading home , we went up to the top floor observation tower, I was awed by the panoramic view of Toronto.

Anyone remember Ziggy Lorenc , Much Music , CITY TV personality dressed in a skimpy outfit with a fur boa wrapped around her banging a gong at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square in the 80's? My online research says she never did this, am I recalling this wrong??
Was it Monika Deol , host of Electric Circus on Much Music perhaps?

This side of the street has trash all over now, completely destroyed, litter and garbage everywhere.
Not sure what year this is, mid to late 80's?

1976 was quite a year for Toronto and Canada. All celebrate their 50th anniversay this year.

Feb. --- Darryl Sittler scores 10 points in one game. Still a record.
Mar --- Toronto is awarded an MLB expansion franchise, eventually named the Blue Jays.
Apr --- Darryl Sittler scores 5 goals in one playoff game, tying Rocket Richard's record.
Jun --- the CN Tower opens.
Sep --- Darryl Sittler scores the OT goal to propel Team Canada to victory in the first Canada Cup.
Aug --- Toronto Metro Croatia win the NASL Soccer Bowl.
Oct --- The Toronto International Film Festival begins it's first year as the Festival of Festivals, eventually becoming one of the major film festivals in the world.

Not specific to Toronto:
Apr --- the Timbit makes it's debut. Greatest Canadian invention of all time???? Discuss.
Jul/Aug --- The Summer Olympics are held in Canada(Montreal).
Sep --- Second City Television makes it's debut.

Feel free to add to the list.

…..and Canada having the dubious distinction of being the only host nation not to have won a gold medal!

Way back in the day as a young teenager i used to go to a music retail store to buy a record, a 78 or album and I was allowed to play the record at the store before I decided to buy it and was never forced into buying it. My first ever record that I bought was by the Everly Bros, Bye Bye Love. Then became the biggest fan of Buddy Holly, (That,ll Be The Day). I styled my hair after him with a curly q on my forehead and wore black rimmed eye glasses and sang Peggy Sue out loud while waiting for the bus going to school. Boy am I old. LOL.
