Four schools which have been members of the NCAA for 100 or more years have never played in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Name as many as you can.
Point of clarification: You mean the school has to have been a member of the NCAA and played in either Divisions 1, 2 or 3 for at least 100 years, correct?

The four non-participants in the NCAA Tournament are all schools established before 1900. As far as I know, they are all either original members of the NCAA or they joined before 1927. There was probably only one Division at that time.

In the 2025 Major League Baseball Season, there was one qualified* player who was in the top 5 for both fewest times striking out and fewest times drawing a base on balls.

* minimum 502 plate appearances.
What's his name?

I'm pretty sure that's Luis Arraez
Nope.

Twenty-seven players had fewer walks than Arraez' 34, (and only two of them are Dominican).

Who holds BOTH of these Major League Baseball records?

1) Fewest walks allowed per 9 innings pitched
* in a season, (Modern Era, post 1900), and

2) Fewest pitches thrown in a 9 inning complete game, (since 1957; there are no previous verifiable statistics).

* Qualified pitchers, minimum 162 IP.

Hint: Ask yourself if I would ask this question if the answer was Greg Maddux.

@K Douglas : This is an out-of-context quote from wikipedia:

"... the NCAA division classification began for the 1956–57 season and retroactively recognized as a de facto Division I team since the Associated Press started classifying teams as either major programs or small colleges in 1948) "

Major League Baseball instituted an amateur draft in 1965. Before that, all unsigned players were unrestricted free agents who could negotiate their initial contract with any team.

Which pre-1965 amateur player received the largest signing bonus?

Hints:

He has one World Series championship ring.

His only service time in the American League was during the 'Blue Jays Era', (ie: post 1976).

He played in 100 or more games in each of his first 13 full seasons in the Majors.

He was once the major player in a 2 for 1 trade for a former Most Valuable Player. He and the former MVP were later teammates for less than a third of one season.

At one time, the image of a comic strip character was painted on a seat in the upper deck of the Houston Astrodome, marking the spot where one of his home runs had landed.

He's a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he's now remembered most for a pass he dropped in his final professional game.

What's his name?

On Opening Day, 2026, Toronto Blue Jays' pitcher Jeff Hoffman became the 99th pitcher in Major League Baseball history* to record four strikeouts in one pitched inning.

Who is the only player to do this three times?

*since 1888.

Hints:

He was a 5 time All Star who won 200 games in an MLB career which spanned three decades. He had double-digit wins in 12 different seasons.

He was married to professional Rock groupie Tawny Kitaen for 5+ years. If her name rings a bell, but you don't know why, you probably know her as 'the chick in that Whitesnake video'.

Other than Jeff Hoffman, eight pitchers who have played for the Toronto Blue Jays at some point in their career have recorded 4 strikeouts in one inning at some point in their Major League baseball career.

Name as many as you can.

Hints:

1) One of these players, a member of the Hall of Fame, won more than 300 games in his career, none of which came while wearing a Blue Jays uniform.

2) One of these players performed the feat twice. He has one World Series ring, and one complete game no-hitter on his resume.

3) One of these players played for 13 different Major League teams. He's from the Dominican Republic. If his mother tongue had been French, however, he might well have been given the nickname "Maitre".

4) One of these players was traded by the Blue Jays for two players. One of them was Japanese, and the other was Teoscar Hernandez.

5) One of these players performed the feat while playing for the Blue Jays. He was named to one All Star team in a season in which he recorded 5 Wins, 1 Save, and 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

6) One of these players was on the Blue Jays' roster for all or part of three seasons. I don't remember him. What is noteworthy in his statistics is that he had an ERA of 1.87 and 0.584 walks + hits per inning pitched in one season, with those numbers ballooning to 8.57 and 2.190 the next, (he had more than 20 and less than 30 innings pitched in each, and 5 innings pitched in his other Blue Jays' season).

7) One of these players was the major piece received in a mid season trade in which the Blue Jays parted ways with a 23 year old pitcher who had been an All Star for them in the previous season.

8) I don't remember this other guy. He performed the feat while playing for the Blue Jays, and he was demoted to AAA less than three weeks later, never to return.

If you can name ALL of the players on this list, someone will accuse you of cheating.

With two games remaining in their regular season, the 2010-11 Brigham Young Cougars had a record of 27-2, and were ranked #3 in NCAA Division I Men's Basketball.

Before there first game in March, their sophomore starting Center, pictured above, was suspended for the remainder of the season for having had premarital sex with his girlfriend, which violated BYU's Honor Code.

What's his name?

Chuck Finley. IIRC, Kitaen was charged for assulting him when they were married.
