I sense an appearance from Bobby DeNiro is coming soon.
It's always fun for the audience and the other players when someone receives 'one and a half lines'.

It's nothing personal; strictly business. Think of 'Bobby D' and 'Regis' as being automated Bot responses.

Edmonton, Ottawa, for sure, can't think of the 3rd...

I specifically asked for the names of the THREE Canadian cities, and you gave me two.

Yes, but this one actually happened.:oops::oops::oops::oops:
'One and a half lines of Robert De Niro' first appeared on a different board in 2014.

I hosted a bullshit advice column thread named Ask bobistheowl!. Sometimes I would write both the question and the answer. Other times I would give a sarcastic answer to an actual question asked. Other times I would quote any post by anyone which contained a question mark, and post an answer that was consistent with the question in the quote, but had nothing to do with the context in which the sentence with a question mark occurred.

There was a group of people on that board who trolled collectively, sometimes co-ordinating their attacks through private messaging. They were obsessed with 'thread hijacking', where they would spam interesting threads with drivel. If there was a post that they didn't want other people to see, they would talk to each other about nothing, long enough for the thread page to change, because a lot of people only read the comments on the current page of any thread. Ask bobistheowl! was immune to hijacking because I only replied to posts which contained a question mark, with a 'bot-like response'.

On certain days of the week, other 'Bobs' would answer the questions. Robert De Niro was a 'guest host' sometimes, as well as a character I called 'Brooklyn Mob Illuminati Bob' on weekends. He was a button / underboss in la cosa nostra who had 'a grade four education and a Ph. D. in street smarts'.

Here is one of BMIB's replies, reprinted on this board.

This was Robert De Niro's first appearance, filling in while 'BMIB' handled a chore. It's important to know that Robert De Niro portrayed 'Fearless Leader' in the 2000 live action film The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Q: "Bob is Owl, Why does business fall off in strip club?" - Boris, Pottsylvania

A: Boris, I think Natasha gave you a dose of leprosy. Didn't I tell you to wear a hat* at all times? Didn't I tell you that? Didn't I tell you? What's the matter with you? Didn't I tell you? Didn't I TELL you? What's the matter with you? What's the matter with you? What's the fuckin' matter with you? Didn't I tell you that?

Q: "I'm sorry, Fearless Leader. How to make cured?

A: One shot. Two is pussy.

Q: "What if not is work?"

A: You're gonna learn about loss.

Thanks to "Bobby D" for sitting in for a few, while I downed a cold one, and bought the lime.

Added:* Boris Badenov ALWAYS wore the same hat, even if he was in disguise, and 'hat' is also a euphemism for condom.

Some Mike Morgan Trivia:

Morgan was selected by the Oakland A's with the 4th pick of the 1978 Draft on June 6, 1978. He made his Major debut five days later, and pitched a complete game. He may or may not have returned to Rancho High School in North Las Vegas, Nevada to complete his Senior year of high school before his next start.

At one time, Morgan held the Major League record for having played for the most different Major League teams, (12). The current record holder, Edwin Jackson, played for 14 different teams.

Morgan won at least one game for 11 different Major League teams, tied for 2nd all-time behind Jackson, with 12. Morgan was 0-3 as a Blue Jay.

On December 9, 1982, the Blue Jays traded minor league 3rd baseman Tom Dodd, (13 career Major League at bats, all in 1986), and innings-eating relief pitcher Dale Murray, (Murray pitched 100+ innings of relief in six different seasons), to the New York Yankees. In return, the Blue Jays received Morgan, outfielder Dave Collins, and an 18 year old first baseman who had, at that time, 3 career minor league home runs in 91 games/ 298 at bats over two seasons in the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League. That player's name is Fred McGriff.

Name the TWO Toronto Blue Jays pitchers who jointly hold the team record for most wins as a Blue Jay without a defeat*.

This can include both regular season and postseason, but does not include spring training, exhibition games or minor league games for an affiliate team which uses the Blue Jays' nickname.

@K Douglas: I'm curious about what some of the 2026 auction prices, retained salaries and contract extensions were in your Rotisserie League. My last season in that game was 1995. Prices which would particularly interest me: Mike Trout, Royce Lewis, Giancarlo Stanton, Jacob DeGrom, and Gerrit Cole, ie: the brittle superstars and comeback kids.

Do you play with the 25 man roster/ $260 budget as of auction day, or has that changed?

Thanks!

Which first ballot Baseball Hall of Fame inductee had one hit in his first 26 Major League* at bats?

*For nit pickers, Major League, for the purpose of this question, refers specifically to only the National and American Leagues during the post 1900 'Modern Era'.

Hint: He had no pitching appearances during his career.

Which Major League Baseball player did not play in the Majors for more than eight consecutive seasons* before returning?

*Before the service break, he last played in July of one season and returned in September, eight seasons later before retiring for good. He did not play in the Major Leagues during seven consecutive full seasons.

Hints:

He was a one time twenty game winner, and his total of 39 Wins in two consecutive seasons is more than half of his career Wins total in ten seasons.

He once led his League in regular season games started. In his final season, he started more games than he did in a three consecutive season span during his mid career.

He had a 2-1 record with a 1.48 ERA in three World Series starts over two consecutive seasons, but he doesn't have a World Series Championship ring.

He is most likely the only player to have played for a Seattle based team in both 1968 and 1969, (AAA Seattle Angels in 1968 and American League Pilots in 1969).
