Jai alai. For safety concerns.
You are good!
Then that would be 2 sports (maybe there are more)!
The other is polo!
Where by rule every shot must be executed from the right side of the pony.
Here's another trivia question:
What baseball player hit for the cycle (by the 4th inning)!

I didn't know about polo and apparently field hockey is also required to be played right handed.
Regarding your cycle question I remember that happening but for the life of me I cannot remember the player. It has to be a 1 or 2 hitter in the lineup so wild guess here: Kenny Lofton.

In the Expansion Era of Major League Baseball, (post 1960 in AL and post 1961 in NL), nineteen different players have had a season in which they won their League's batting title with an average of .360 or higher.

Name as many as you can.

tml correctly identified George Brett, Tony Gwynn, Ichiro Suzuki, John Olerud and Rod Carew.

unassuming correctly identified Wage Boggs, Barry Bonds and Larry Walker.

K Douglas correctly identified Chipper Jones, Joe Mauer and Todd Helton.

In the Expansion Era, three qualified* batters have had a season's batting average at .360 or above, but the didn't win the batting title.

Name either or both.

*Minimum 3.1 plate appearances for each scheduled game; 502 for a 162 game season.

K Douglas correctly identified Jeff Bagwell and Mike Piazza.

Baseball hypothetical:

Player A holds a slim lead for the League's batting title going into the last weekend of the season. He is unable to play. He has 503 plate appearances.

His team is in a battle for the #6 wild card playoff spot, and ends the schedule tied for that position. A one game playoff is played between the tied teams to determine which goes to the post season.

Player A does not play in the playoff, which is considered to be part of the regular season. The minimum plate appearances for 163 games is 505.

Does he win the batting title?

a) Yes.
b) No.

c) It Depends.

Pick the correct letter, and explain the reason.

Baseball Hypothetical (I don't know the answer)

Team 1 and Team 2 are contending for the #6 seed wild card. They play in different Divisions, and don't play against each other after the All-Star Break.

At some point before the All Star Break, the last scheduled game of the season is suspended after eight innings with the score tied, because of inclement weather or lighting failure.

Player A is a member of Team 1 when this game is played. Player B is a member of team 2. Player C was also a member of one of the two teams.

The incomplete game IS relevant to final Season's standings and post season seeding.

Player A played in the suspended game, and was still in the game when play was halted. Player B did not play in the game. Player C was on the 60 Day Injury List when the game was played, (ie: he did not occupy a position on the 40 Man roster when the game was suspended), but he was added to the 40 Man and Major League rosters prior to the end of the season.

At the All Star Break, Player A is traded for Player B.

1) What happens? Does the game resume at the top of the ninth inning, or is it replayed from the start?
(This one I know).

2) Which, if any, of Players A, B and C would be eligible to play when the suspended game is rejoined or restarted after the end of the regular season?

Thoughts???

Nope for Albert Pujols, who scored 100% on his American Citizenship test.

Pujols won the NL batting title in 2003 with 212 hits in 591 At Bats, (
.3587). He was 'less than half a hit short':

.3595 * 591 = 212.4645

Jones, Mauer and Helton all won a batting title with a .360 average or above.

I'm up to date with updating question posts and incorrect answers, but behind in quote/ confirmations for Correct answers. Assume that recent answers were Correct, unless otherwise noted.

Mike Piazza

Piazza and Bagwell are both Correct!, but...

There is another.jpg

Piazza never won a batting title. In his top single season average, in his 2nd consecutive season as runner-up to the NL MVP, he hit a career high .362, but that was only good enough for 3rd place. Another guy had a higher average that year, and also wasn't the batting champ.

The question post has been updated.

He was the last Major League Baseball player to bat without a helmet.

What's his name?

a) Yes
It is possible to win the batting title without the required 505 PAs!
It has happened!
(If memory serves me correctly .... in '96 or '97 when Tony Gwynn (who didn't have the required PAs beat Ellis Burkes!)
It works likes this (hypothizingthe #s):
Let's say Ellis Burkes batted .335 with 510 PAs!
And Tony Gwynn batted .337 with 500 PAs!
If you add 5 PAs to TG's stats (assuming he goes 0-5 which would bring his PAs to a qualifying 505) and drop his average .336 ... he wins!

Final answer?

(You have not answered BOTH parts of the question correctly. Re-read both the question, and your answer, and you should be able to tell which part is wrong).
