So there’s a lot of hype about taking NADs and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this product. Any doctors in the house?
I am in my 50s and looking to optimize my fitness/recovery.

Here are the main deets on NADs, copied from google AI:

“NAD+ supplementation shows promise in animal models for extending lifespan and reducing signs of aging, with early human trials demonstrating potential benefits like improved exercise performance, insulin sensitivity, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, more robust clinical trials with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these findings and determine the optimal dosages and long-term effects in humans.”

Have you taken NADs? Where’d you get them? I ordered some from ZOONE but I now see that it’s coming from China. The shipping updates are not even in English. Don’t know if I should take them. I’ll probably chuck it if it arrives at all.

And if you have any perspective on anything else interesting on the subject of fitness/anti-aging…TRT, drinking the blood of virgins, whatever, please feel free to chime in.

I for one miss out on alot because im illiterate to modern jargon...whenever i read something that has letters to substitute for words im clueless as to what is being said
Bottom Line...what the heck does NADS refer to...

I asked ChatGPT for the short version of their efficacy and also about what they are.
In short it looks unconvincing, so I wouldn't really bother.

NAD supplementation refers to taking compounds that boost levels of NAD⁺ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in the body. NAD⁺ is a vital coenzyme found in all living cells, essential for:
  • Energy production (in mitochondria via the electron transport chain)
  • DNA repair
  • Cell signaling
  • Gene expression regulation via sirtuins
Types of NAD⁺ Supplements
NAD⁺ itself isn’t well absorbed when taken orally, so people use precursors:

CompoundFull NameNotes
NRNicotinamide ribosideWell studied, available in supplements like Tru Niagen
NMNNicotinamide mononucleotidePromoted by researchers like David Sinclair
NicotinamideA form of vitamin B3Cheaper, but less efficient for NAD⁺ synthesis
NiacinAlso vitamin B3Can cause flushing at higher doses

Here's a clear and compact table showing the most common NAD⁺ supplements, their claimed benefits, and whether each is proven, unproven, or partially supported by science:
🧪 NAD⁺ Supplementation: Evidence Table

SupplementClaimed BenefitEvidence StatusNotes
NR (Nicotinamide Riboside)Increases NAD⁺ in blood✅ ProvenMultiple human trials confirm increase
Improves mitochondrial function⚠ Partially SupportedEvidence in animals; human results mixed
Anti-aging / longevity❌ UnprovenNo human data showing longer life
Cognitive benefits⚠ Partially SupportedSome early evidence in older adults
Improves metabolic health⚠ Partially SupportedMild improvements in insulin sensitivity in some studies
Prevents age-related diseases❌ UnprovenNo clinical trials proving prevention or reversal

SupplementClaimed BenefitEvidence StatusNotes
NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)Boosts NAD⁺ levels✅ ProvenHuman trials show increased NAD⁺, esp. in blood
Increases endurance/energy⚠ Partially SupportedSeen in mice; early human studies promising
Anti-aging effects❌ UnprovenLongevity claims only proven in mice
Improves cardiovascular function⚠ Partially SupportedSmall-scale studies show improved blood flow in older adults
Cognitive improvement❌ UnprovenNo strong clinical data yet

SupplementClaimed BenefitEvidence StatusNotes
Niacin (Vitamin B3)Boosts NAD⁺ (indirectly)✅ ProvenBut less targeted; can cause flushing
Lowers cholesterol✅ ProvenApproved treatment for dyslipidemia
Anti-aging or energy boost❌ UnprovenNot effective for these at standard doses

SupplementClaimed BenefitEvidence StatusNotes
Nicotinamide (NAM)Supports NAD⁺ synthesis✅ ProvenA core B3 form; widely used in multivitamins
Enhances DNA repair⚠ Partially SupportedShown in vitro and animal models
Anti-aging/longevity❌ UnprovenNo clinical proof in humans

🔍 Summary by Benefit

BenefitEvidence Summary
Boosts NAD⁺ levels✅ Proven (NR, NMN, Niacin, NAM)
Improves energy/metabolism⚠ Promising but limited human data
Anti-aging/lifespan extension❌ Unproven in humans
Prevents/reverses age-related disease❌ Unproven
Cognitive/neurological benefits⚠ Early signals, more research needed
Long-term safety❓ Unknown — short-term use seems safe

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a compound found naturally in your body's cells. It's also available in supplement form. NAD, sometimes referred to by its other formats, NAD+ and NADH, is a key player in various cell functions, including helping to regulate your body's metabolic and inflammatory responses

lol...short form for gonads.....as for Nads...gimme a break....just eat right, exercise, dont use alcohol excessively...and make sure that your parents had/have good genes and live/lived well into their 80,s
All those are ✅ and valid points. Just looking to improve recovery, etc…ie the purported benefits of NADs.

(NAD, in this case, is not an abbreviation for gonad)

Seems like the latest celeb thing

My research indicates no confirmed negative health effects but ask MD if you are on drugs

You can inject or use pills. No MD is involved as no prescription required

Injection is around $70

According to the nurse I saw she says everyone seems to get more energy and mental clarity but that could be placebo and besides she is selling the stuff along with botox

I think I will spend a few hundred for a few injections to see WTF happens so stay tuned. It seems toi me if the energy boost and mental clarity stuff is not undeniable then waste of money as longevity claims are ungrounded based on mouse study so forget about that

I am skeptical but a few hundred to me means nothing
Nice to have $
