I had to pay out of pocket for that particular vaccine even though I disclosed I'm a sex worker. Worth the $200 or whatever I paid. I know it was less than $200. I think it's free for people who are in a certain age demographic. For some reason, older people don't fall into that category, and they have to pay out of pocket. It's just a matter of what the government will fund and make free for recipients. Maybe if we didn't have so many people accessing programs they don't need ON A WEEKLY BASIS that arent meant for them there would be funding to vaccinate the entire population. But for now there's a cutoff for funding. Older people have to pay. All of those FREE services aren't really free. They're just funded by taxpayers.
Even HIV is preventable now. As long as someone gets to a doctor and takes PEP religiously and early enough after exposure. The same medication that prevents HIV is the same medication they use to keep it undetectable in people that have it. People just need to go and get checked for it and a mouth swab doesn't cut it
We've come a long way. They even have rapid HIV tests ...that are unreliable and mostly meant for people that don't see doctors like the homeless population. You can get them at the same place as what's her face gets her f****** weekly tests. Same premise. Test them when you got em' because you never know when you're going to see them again.
