Also a great keyboard player I just found out. Has theory down pat. He's the man. As for Oscar Peterson. I think this vid proved he is the goat. As if he hadn't already proven it.
Grew up listening to lots of Oscar Peterson as my dad had an extensive collection of his albums, particularly his "songbook" recordings, i.e. OP Plays Gershwin, etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Peterson_discography. Between OP and Art Tatum, my oh my, a piano never had it so good.
As to poker's statement, Rick Beato came from a classical family. He got the training at an early age, before he started getting into jazz and rock. I had the same training but I'm nowhere near Beato's modal perception. Oscar Peterson is awesome but he has a peer (also Canadian) Glenn Gould.
Lovely Alexandra Kuznetsova has Gould's posture at the piano (early days). Russians know piano, a compliment with Gould's name attached is the highest one can give. Her Chopin must be outstanding.

Looking into Rick Beato's background further.
He works out of Black Dog Studios in Atlanta, he has written songs for several bands. This is his biggest hit.

Went to my local Crap Tire to buy some utensils for my cleaning lady. I was assailed by current pop music the whole time. To quote John McEnroe, mere words cannot express how atrocious modern pop is.

Here, here wise man. You can add rap and hip-hop or whatever it's called to that, too. Unless, of course, you can hum the catchy and memorable "tunes." I get bombarded by this every day at the gym I go to, with the extra pleasure of seeing the accompanying videos on large screens filtered throughout. Never thought I'd say this, but Tipper Gore may have had a point there (LOL).
